If you Wii is new I'd also recommend the D2Pro.
D2cKey doesn't have the option (to my knowledge) to update itself, D2Pro can with a "programmer".

In regard to your 9 wire question, depending on whether you will do it yourself or not you may even want 19...
When I recently got mine from OMC I asked if they'd do 9 or 15, they said 19 so it's fully region free.

only just finished installing a D2pro and ive done a few of them and they have allways seemed to be a very good D2C chip so id recomend that one

people saying that he should get a Wiikey need to wake up they havent produced the D2A D2B and DMS boards that the Wiikey uses for almost a year now they are a dieing breed.

out of the 4 main d2c chips ive delt with Aragon and D2pro
i got one of the earlier aragons with the ****ty firmware and that just put me off them forever only will i use D2pros and possibly Wassabis when they get their **** straight.

this whole d2pro with the 9 wire installs or the 19 or 15 im going to lay it straight so you people can atleast know what your talking about
19 wires is for the V1 D2Pro with the extra region points
15 wires is for the v1 D2pro with out the region points
9 wires is if you have either bought an addon for the current V1 D2pros that is soldered to the chip its self and im pretty sure you have to use the 9 wire D2pro wasabus firmware. or you have a V2 D2pro

by the way i think the multiregion points are bull**** i cant get unpatched american games to work at all even with them all installed

its very easy to **** these things up if your not confident with the soldering iron and know how to use it properly

Its a black and white subject theres no grey area here you can either do it or you cant and with 400 at stake here its a pretty good reason to be anal about these things if hes not confident at doing these things then i will try to put him off and encorage him to get it installed by someone who knows what hes doing.

and telling me not to cry over telling him about the Wiikey thing the guy obviously dosnt have much knowledge on the whole modchip scene so of course im going to say that because i know his Wii is almost certainly a D2C chipset so if people are recomending Wiikeys then how the **** is that going to help him ive modded heaps of Wiis and know what im talking about so if you want expert advice which is what the guys asking for then sorry for knowing what im talking about you stupid ****

Mine was 19, they said they patched the extra 4 so it'd be region free for me.

It's working fine with US games, the 1 Japanese game I tried failed so it's not 100%
