Social \ 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' - Rox!

Hey all! I just wanted to see how many of you out there have read 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' by Jeff Lindsay or seen the Showtime 'Dexter' with Michael C. Hall. And I also want to know what you think of it.

For my 2 cents, I thinks it fantastic!

Manly because it comes across as so different and original from anything you've ever read! And it's so morally ambiguous... Which makes it very edgy and makes you start to think of the world as not so black and white but as shades of grey.

But what does it for me is that the character of Dexter is so LIKABLE. He's a serial killer, but you understand him and root for him. Dexter, despite the fact that he keeps saying that he has no emotions, is very witty and funny! Which makes him a very likable character as he is able to cipher through all the B.S. of life and social politics. (To which I can relate.)

Now to the TV adaption.

After finishing the book I though that I knew the ending to the show and that it was kinda ruined... Not so. While the TV adaption does follow close to the book in some respects, in others it totally deviate and takes it own direction. Which, by the way, is not a bad thing in the lest! What I like is that, yes, it's Lindsay's character, intact from his transfer from page to screen. Who by the way, is played beautifully by Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under). Hall totally nails this character. He IS Dexter, not to put

I think it's a great small screen adaptation of Lindsay's work. (I like that it was make into a series as apposed to a film!!

)

I can't wait to see the second season. Which I hear is not based of Lindsay's books but an original script written by Showtime... Exciting..

Yeah.. 'Dexter In The Dark' I'm reading it at the moment. It's quite interesting and Dexter has to face a whole new personal dilemma!!
