Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - first ever review by MrSmash - 9/10
Okay, one thing before we start. This is my first review EVER so I thought I would try and give a decent review of one of my personal favourite series, Fire Emblem, so forgive me if there are any mistakes or whatnot.
Gameplay: 10/10
For those who are not familiar with Fire Emblem, the controls and flow of the game are not that hard to learn. When you start a new game, usually during the prologue, you will be asked if you would like to view the tutorials throughout the game. If you choose no, you can always find the by opening the map menu and selecting 'Guide'. While playing on maps, you will see in the left hand corner words written, such as 'rout', 'defeat boss' or 'defend/survive'. You mst do one or more of these to meet the requirements of the map and clear it.
When you choose to fight an opponent you get you window of information. If you are happy with that information, you can choose to go ahead and fight and watch your 3D characters bash each other. Also, ifyou let a non-important character die, they are gone forever.
One more thing. If you happen to have a Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance save file on your Gamecube memory card, you can put the card in and when you start a new game, you can transfer over bonuses for your characters!
Story: 10/10
One of the best things about this Fire Emblem game is that it follows on from the last one that was on gamecube (which you probably should play before this one). It is set on the continent of Tellius 3 years after the Mad King's War. After Daein lost to Crimea, Crimea abdicated its rule over Daein, so then Begnion took control and forced Daein into oppression.
The whole game is divided into four parts, the first 3 focusing on Miciah, Queen Elincia and Ike respectively. However the last part..... well you'll just have to play it and find out! But don't think that these parts are insignificant because they add up towards the end.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are good, but only slightly better than Fire Emblem: PoR. Since the game is on Wii, everyone, including myself, was expecting better next gen graphics. Don't get me wrong, they are good but thank god the cutscenes make up for what the graphics lack.
Controls: 9/10
Since we're talking about the Wii here, the controls are quite simple to master. There are foru possible ways to play: Classic Controller, Gamecube Controller, Wii Remote held horizontally and Wii Remote held vertically. Out of these i would recommend either the Gamecube controller or the Wii remote held horizontally just for the fact that they are the easiest ways to play that don't require much fuss.
GC controller: move with joystick, 'A' to select 'B' to cancel. Wiimote held horizontally: D-Pad to move, '2' to select, '1' to cancel.
You don't have to use the grip if you don't want to
Overall: 9/10
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn has a lot of good qualities and minimal bad ones. With the Gameplay, Graphics and Storyline not to mention the different levels of difficulty, this Fire Emblem is one has has a high replay value.
P.S. As I said, this was my first ever review. I am happy with the way it turned out, but I would also like to know what other people think. So please let me know and give me some advice of you have any!
