Rayman Raving Rabbids. - 8/10

STORY

Once upon a time in a happy place Rayman and Globox's children are having a pick nick and everything and everyone is happy. Out of nowhere an army of angry Rabbids pop up and surround poor Rayman and his friends before a larger scarier Rabbid takes Rayman away.


Here the game picks up. Spanning over several days Rayman is forced to do games for the Rabbids' entertainment, which not only doesn't make any sense, but the novelty plungers are also abused in this wackjob story. So really from the sounds of it 'Rayman for *NO REAL REASON* must play mini games', is the story behind this game, and if this doesn't bother you the slightest or you wanna pop some acid before playing then lets get into the gameplay.



GAMEPLAY

Every 'day' Rayman is in the arena he gets 4 mini games to play. One dancing then 3 others. Ubi claims the game offers up to 70 games, well that's a lie. The game has 70 games to play through but there are a lot of reusing a game just with different colours a new song or maybe a bump out in difficultly. What is good though is the score mode. In here you get a code for every score you get playing the game. This then can be put up onto the Raymanzone site so you can check your score against many others online. While this is clever and adds ALOT of time onto the 15or so hours it will take you first time around, there is already cheaters, and the pc copy has a weird copy protection glitch that removes 10 or so % from the score you get. So in games where it is time based they get a huge bonus, so lets just hope the pc copy is fixed and better cheat protection is turned on.

RRR has support as well for up to 4 players not all can play a game at once through, and for some weird reason it demands you to complete the games in single before playing them with a friend. If a friend could join and play co0p through the single it would be such a blast, even the repetitive boring missions would be fun as you can take it in turns. And lets be honest the game where you shoot juice into a Rabbid's eye; you will have someone pumping while you aim anyway....

One thing though that is a good point is the golden gate at the end of each day, once you have completed a minimum ammount of games you can try the end of stage game. These are usually shooter but can also be super fun warthog races.



GRAPHICS && SOUND

The game is good looking, it runs off the Jade engine, with a few things cut, such as the blur otherwise the game looks and runs like a dream. Often lighting effects make the scene and sweet cartoony graphics make in the game movies look oh so sweet. The sound is done quite well too, even on your XXX retry the music and sounds won't get annoying, it is also clever how in the dancing games correct actions add to the song or stuff it up.

FINAL THOUGHTS

While a great game for you and your friends (after beating single) the game simply used the Rayman name to shame. And as a result left platforming fans with a bitter taste in their mouth.
This game is a sure get if you don't have anything else to get.

Gameplay: 9.5/10Repetitive but never gets tired with friends around
Graphics: 9/10 Good looking Wii graphics
Sound: 9.5/10 Doesn't get old which is a blessing
longevity: 8/10 Fun and will be a treat with friends, however cheaters online makes you want to put down the controller fast, also the game doesn't really offer anything new so this will be replaced soon
