The Legend of Zelda - 9/10
OVERVIEW
Definitely a must buy Virtual Console game, the Legend of Zelda is an interesting game to play, maybe because it has lead to one of the most popular games series ever created! But i must warn you, the Legend of Zelda, ain't no Twilight Princess, its very straight forward and you basically have to imagine what you thinks happening yourself besides that you have a sword and there are crazy monsters running around and weird golden triangle pieces hidden around?! You may also feel regret for buying this after the first 5-10 minutes of playing this game, but force yourself to beat the first dungeon and obtain the first triforce piece, I'm sure you'll feel differently then. LOL anyways lets get on with the review!

GRAPHICS 8/10
For a 8bit NES game, at the time of release, was a damn good lookin game and was basically as good as it got back then. So I've rated the graphics for this game accordingly to its release date.
The graphics look nice, colourful and bright.
The environment looks great but is a tiny bit repetitive in places, but its all good :]
There is some detail put into the rocks, walls, tree's etc, but in the dungeons it does tend to look all the same..
The player Link or whoever you would like to call him when starting the game, looks pretty basic, a little tanned boy/man in a (cute) little green outfit, so when you first look at link you pretty much straight away know he is a Hero
The Enemies & monster's look great, simple, straight forward. There are many different monsters but you do quickly see all of them so monsters do get a bit repetitive also, except for bosses.
Yeah Link! you swing that sword!

SOUND 9/10
I really do love the music in this game, especially the starting/theme song of the game
It has similar music as recent zelda games but more dumbed down and simple of course as it is a NES game. The music sounds like it is played through a nice wind flute and is quite relaxing and cruisy.

GAMEPLAY 8/10
The story line could be a bit more explained instead of just, u starting outside being able to control a green man and then making your way into a cave and a disappearing man giving you sword and telling you how to use it, and then randomly walking around and discovering temple/dugeons where you find weapons that you somehow figure out how to use to beat bosses and enemies to find random yellow triangles that for some reason have an importance
but don't let this get you worried!!! its damn good fun
just abit...random? I do like random though, but I do really think it maybe could have had some explaining at the start.
OMG you just received a sword from some creepy old man that just dissapeared

Controls 9/10
I don't think they could have made the controls any better.
This game is played either with the Wiimote turned on its side OR the Classic Controller.
The controls are pretty simple, as follows:
D-pad for movement
A Sword attacks, hold too shoot sword of light if you have full health
B Extra Weapons that you obtain such as the boomerang and Lantern (these weapons can be locked and changed)
- Change selection on menu's etc.
+ Select menu option and to START
The controls are pretty straight forward and easy to use, I got the hang of it in no time :]
The Classic Controller, compatible with The Legend of Zelda and any other VC game
--------------------------------------------------------------------
CONCLUSION
This was the first of my purchases on the Virtual Console Shopping Channel, I bought it mainly because I wanted to see how and where the great Legend of Zelda series originated and came from. It's pretty fun once you figure out everything and finish the first dungeon, so don't give up on it after the first 5 mins!!
So basically, next time you've got some Shopping Channel points, I recommend you choose The Legend of Zelda as your next purchase
OVERALL RATING 9/10
Hope you liked the review ;]
