DBZ:Budokai Tenkaichi 2 - 7/10
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 was a game many I and many of you were looking forward too, this is mainly because of the controls shown in the previews for this game.
BTW I am going to review this game in sections, enjoy.
GRAPHICS 7/10:
The graphics of DBZ:budokai tenkaichi 2 are reasonably good, not fantasic, but good enough. The style of the graphics are the same as the TV shows and movie giving you are more Dragon Ball Z feel to the game, which I loved. The battle arena's and the world in adventure mode is great though, they look vivid and bright.
SOUND 9/10:
The sound was good I think, the voices were nice and clear and sounded like the voices from the TV show. The sound effects were great. From being smashed through a mountain or shooting a kamayamaya the sounds all sound grand, one thing that annoyed me though was the high pitchness of goku's voice it was giving my tv the sh!ts but that just might have been me..
the fighting noises were cool as well, like the punching, kicking & ki blast noises all matched the graphics and were cool.
GAMEPLAY 7/10:
The gameplay was pretty good. The game consisted of many options of play, in adventure mode you are able to fly around and visit where ever you like or complete and fight throught the DBZ tv saga', in dueling you are able to fight either the computer or a friend. There is also training, which isn't that helpfull, and DBZ store where you are able to buy items, moves etc to customize your characters. These are just a few of the too many options on the menu.
CONTROLS 8/10:
The controls were the thing that persuaded me to buy this game. In the game you are supposed to be able to *cast* the moves yourself by swinging on thrusting the remote certain ways that resemble the move you are using, this is not exactly right. Alot of the moves use the pointer to cast the moves, here is an example of the controls for Goku Super Sayain 4's ultimate attack: hold Z + B then point wiimote at screen the move cursor UP out of screen then back into screen. this is quite easy which is what dissapoints me, as I used to love the old control versions where you would struggle to pull off ultimate attacks and have the greater satisfaction when you did, with this wii version I just simply keep repeating the best attack of the character till the Enemy is defeated, which is too easy I think, but others might find this heaps better like my little brother who has *troubles* playing games..
Even though this game offers an option to play with a gamecube controller or the wii classic controller, but I think that is stupid. Can I also say that the controls are hard to grasp straight away and took me a good hour to get the hang of it and as soon as i did the game automatically became too easy, and as I said before the training option is not much help.
OVERALL 7/10:
The game overall is pretty good, lots of characters to play as and unlock, 120 to be exact. I have always loved DBZ games as you are able to get codes off the internet to unlock even more characters and DBZ: budokai tenkaichi 2 has not let me down on that. The controls are fun but too easy and sometimes too simple once you grasp them especially with the ultimate attacks.
I definately reccommend this game to all DBZ fans, even if you are not a DBZ fan this game is a must hire, and you never know you could get hooked on it and end up buying it, i know i did
Thanks for reading.
BTW this is my first review, which is why it might not be too good
