Cooking Mama: Cook Off Reviews \ Detail

Don't worry! Mama will fix it! - 6/10

Ok, IGN review was pretty accurate with this game.
I'll start with the visuals: They're 3D, but they probably could be run on Nintendo DS hardware. In short, not great. If you've played EyeToy games on PS2, the 3D graphics are the same. The cutesy feel of the kitchen falls apart a little.

Sound:
Music is pretty cute like in the DS version. Not THAT annoying.
BUT... MAMA NOW HAS A VOICE! And it's super annoying! 'Do not mind' is her favourite saying as my sister keeps stuffing up the recipes.
Sound effects are pretty standard stuff. Similar to the real thing but not entirely convincing.

Now here's the main problem: controls.
The seem to work sometimes and the description of the mini game is very vague so you'll need to try a couple of times to figure it out.
The pointer gets stuck a lot when peeling (I hate peeling in real life, in the game it's worse!) especially in 2 player.
Recommendation: Wii remote with fresh batteries! It seems to help if you're in the red on your battery meter.

Lastability:
Probably around the same as Nintendo DS version. It's fun for a little while. For example, I am having fun playing it with my sister but I wouldn't endeavour to complete all the recipes by myself.

Should you buy it?

If it was a bargain. Sometime down the track when EB games is flogging it for cheap, pick it up. It going to look last generation regardless of when you pick it up.

the main problem is the pointer, which is used far too much, when motion sensing would have been more appropriate.
