A Nintendo Wii video game review by Bill Wall A History The Mario franchise on the Nintendo systems has brought much entertainment to hardcore and casual gamers alike. It's made life altering changes to video game fanatics, and it has entered the hearts of children around the world as the Italian Plumber is the icon of video games history. Let me start by giving you a brief run-down of the history of the character we love, Mario: Mario is a fictional video game character who was created by video game developer Shigeru Miyamoto. He's appeared in over 200 video games - across many genres like RPG, racing, puzzle, adventure, and even Sports Games like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Not only is Mario the mascot of Nintendo - but many believe him to be the most famous video game character ever. If Mario didn't appear in the 1981 game Donkey Kong - would the world be a different place today? The Gameplay The gameplay of Super Mario: Galaxy definitely takes advantage of the Wii controls, and interacts with the player extremely well. It incorporates new moves to Mario - as he struggles to exploit Bowsers plans, and defeat his minions once again. Super Mario: Galaxy takes us on a journey through many galaxies - where we make allies and enemies alike. Collect the Power Stars and the Grand Stars, as we once again struggle to save Peach and defeat Bowser once again. Not only do we play as the classic Italian Plumber - but we play as Bee Mario and the rumour of being able to unlock Mario's partner - Luigi. All in all - the gameplay of Super Mario: Galaxy incorporates the Wii controls perfectly, and draws in the players like no other Mario game has done before.. Gameplay - 8/10 Visuals After seeing the first 3D Mario game appear on the Nintendo 64 (Super Mario 64) - there has definitely been alot of improvements incorporated into the design of Galaxy. It really uses the Wii's processing units to it's full potential - and it looks like eye-candy to those die-hard fans of Mario. Looks a bit better than the old retro pixelated Mario back in the day doesn't it fellas? Visuals - 8/10 The Storyline and the rest: Of course - everyone already knows that Mario once again needs to save Peach and defeat Bowser and his minions.. What would Mario be without Bowser? You guys may think that maybe the developers need to think of a different plot this time around - but they have definitely done well with this one. Not only the amount of time it would take to complete the game 100% is immense - but there is so much to do and so much to explore. The storyline doesn't get boring, and I am glad to go and defeat Bowser and save the gorgeous Princess Peach once more.. The Rest - 7/10 All in all - whether you're the Hardcore Mario fan, or the Softcore Casual Mario player, this is a definite must for all people of all ages to play.
