Having your modchip in your Wii is great for getting some games earlier than Australia. At the moment, your Wii can only play games from Australia. Some games like Super Paper Mario, where it has only just been released, 8 months after America. I was lucky to score myself a copy of the game the first week it was released in America.

I updated my wii last night and the diclaimer said you can power off your wii and not do the update, or do the update and if there are any modifications it may brick it.
By the time i get to modding mine, ill probably buy another one have one modded and one not
