You make a valid point of course, but I'm quite thin so I would expect a burger to at least satisfy my hunger.

HAHAHAHA!

Freezing food does not reduce its size. It removes a bit of moisture and freezes solid the rest, yes, but the item is still basically the same size.

If anything, freezing makes things larger. Try filling a bottle to the brim with water and then freezing it. You'll have a surprise in the morning, I promise.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure the meat is frozen. Pretty sure they don't have thousands of beef, chicken and fish patties just sitting in the coolroom or on a shelf somewhere.

I found Burger King in North America and Hungry Jacks in Australia to almost be identical, apart from things like the chicken Whopper, and now in Canada Burgers seem to be called Sandwiches

Basic science is this: MacDonalds freezes bread. They've packaged it so that it won't crush. Therefore the weight bearing down on each piece of bread is distributed evenly over the entire pallet. Not enough pressure equals negligible compression.

And especially when you're freezing something that has a strong structure like meat, removing moisture does even less because there's still muscle there.

'Negligible' is something like a millimetre or three, or as we say in the food industry when we're not dealing with an important customer — what are you worrying about?

Yeah it's a bit of a minefield. Admittedly, both answers are correct, but I think the issue is in extremes. What difference does freezing make to the size of a product, and is that difference important in the real world?

I think the way HJ's burgers drip with oil and sauce is awesome too, where Macca's burgers are fairly dry... I always regret having Macca's afterwards (breakfast excepted)... But HJ's I always crave more...
