Video inputs won't make a difference, unless you also plugged in the sound as well. If you did, did it help? Also, try hooking up your original composite cables and trying that. It could be the component cables. Are they 3rd party ones?

Just sounds like the dvd drive is interfering. When my computer thinks sometimes i hear sound in my speakers to. A bit like the noise a mobile phones makes near speakers.

It shouldn't really make a difference but is your wii close to the speakers.
