Yes, trust him. I got a router instead of a Wifi stick so that I could share internets with the computer in my room. Infinitely more useful, especially if you have occasion to buy a second computer or use a laptop to surf the 'tubes while you're in the john.

Also, a good tip is to buy online and get it dropped off at your house as they can be sold out in stores and good idea to buy online as you can order/buy anytime.

I have a D-Link also. It has never caused me any problems, aside from the initial setup when I was scratching my head for about half an hour because I'd missed a sentence in the manual that told me to turn on DHCP.
