That's pretty stupid, just get an offical Nintendo SD stick, with 2gig memory, into the Wii.
Have it with an SD Card Code, that registers to your machine, so you can't use it on other machines.

Just think if a HDD was released or that usb HDD's were enabed via update, then there could be an external program or something that could be saved on the HDD insted of a chip.
