A guy from Australia Post delivered an eParcel package this morning to my house. It was addressed to me. As I was already on the way to work, my wife had to sign for it.

She was getting the kids ready for school, and quite in a hurry, so she was a bit rushed in giving her details to the delivery man. The guy got increasingly annoyed, and told her "you don't have to be grumpy about it!"...to which my wife answered "i am not grumpy, you're being rude!"

well what happened next was quite shocking...after signing the form my wife extended her hand to take the package, but the guy wasn't handing it over. instead he chucked the package at my wife, hitting her on the chest. he quickly turned around to leave. my wife ran and pushed him, and he called her a b*tch. this happened in full view of the kids.

sure they may have had a heated exchange of words, but there is no excuse for throwing the package at my wife.

i rang Australia Post to report it. This guy is scary, i don't want him delivering anything to my house ever again.

There used to be a postie where I used to live who was damn strange.
Probably the same guy.
Where I live now kinda sucks. If a package fits in the mailbox, they'll cram it in. If nobody's home, they'll just leave it at the front door. I mean, careless? Hello!

there are numerous forums on this topic where postie knock once on the door, slips in the "Australia Post tried to deliver you package..." card, then walks away without waiting for anyone to answer. sometimes they just leave the package on the doorstep. Other times they don't even bother knocking, then just put the card in the mailbox then move on. There was one time i waited a whole day for a package to arrive. there was no knock on the door or doorbell ringing. i waited until the afternoon when i checked the mailbox, i saw the card!

It's unfortunate that this happened to you. The postie(s) that come to my house are really friendly!

Australia Post now uses contractors most of the time to deliver packages that require a signature. These contractors get paid the same rate whether or not they successfully deliver the package or if they bring it back to the depot for you to pick up.

I've had no problems with our regular postie (well apart from him riding his bike over my newly laid lawn).

Posties are pretty ****.
I wound be expecting a parcel, I leave my window open, etc to make it obvious that someone is home.
I see some bloke walk up to the door, then leave in a normal car.
I check it and its a 'attempted delivery'.
BULLSHIT!
Even the post van's have done it sometimes, i see them pull up, put the 'attempted devliery' in my mailbox and drive off.

or when they do come to the door they knock and run

They have a pretty cruisy job as it is. They can at least put some, you know, effort into it!

I've done 'a' job. That's enough to know effort is needed to succeed. I've seen postmen succeed, and I've seen some who's failed. I know the difference.

Of course effort is needed in most jobs, aside George Jetson's job.

Anyway, that's hardly the point.... Cruisy job? It's like bus drivers, they may not hang around too long at the bus depot because they are on a tight schedule. Anything can happen on their route to make them late, bad traffic lights, traffic jam etc. If they get off to a bad start, they may never catch up.

Sorry I never knew you studied the postman job so much.

Anyway again, I was only talking about the cruisy part.... Just wanted to know why you would think that such a job would be cruisy?

*Yawn*
Don't you get tired of picking unnecessary fights all the time?
To my understanding it's an easy job. You don't think so? Okay, whatever.
Now get back under the bridge where you came from, you no-good troll.

Studied postmen? As in, noticing whether or not they knock on a door or not? It's hardly investigative research...

I have heard some stories where posties try to do their route as quick as they can so that they can finish their shift early, go home watch tv etc. Sometime they'd only take a couple of hours to do their daily run which leaves them the rest of the day free. to do this they would have to cut corners (i.e., just leave a card in the mailbox and let the customer pick it up from the PO, instead of delivering every package). believe it or not, a lot of people have caught their posties doing this and busted them on the spot.

if they have to come back later during the day to deliver more stuff, it would be considered OVERTIME. very nice.

Worse case scenario the postie would have dropped the parcel at here feet, but throwing it at her is just wrong good job on reporting him.

I hate it when I get that card, my local PO is pretty slack, so if it says pick up today after 4pm it really means tomorrow.

I hardly pick fights all the time. It was a simple question before. How the **** do you know if it's a hard job or not if you haven't done it?

I didn't agree with you that it's a cruisy job. Certainly they should knock, I am not defending the postmen that don't knock. I am defending them in the way that I doubt it would be a cruisy job.

Studied postman I said, not postmen. I was just wondering how you have seen so many succeed or not succeed. It seems to me you are quite the aficionado of postmanism.

Jesus Christ. If it makes you sleep better tonight, then you win.
I'm not taking this any further, because it's such a ridiculous, inane argument.
