Recently my Teac LCD has started to play up on me (green shadows in images) now it's all under extended warranty and it's getting repaired as I type. It's a decent HDTV and stills does a good job but the down side is I bought this TV when LCD TVs were still pretty new so it's only 720p, no HDMI input and I have to use an external HD set top box. Even though it's getting repaired I'm contemplating getting something to replace it, at first I was thinking about getting a nice LCD like a Bravia but the LED TVs have caught my eye. www.samsung.com/ I just love how thin they are and how clear they look. My question/s are has anyone got one and are they happy with it, are they any down sides to them and how much better are they than a high end LCD TV?

I haven't got one mate, sorry. But I totally agree that they look awesome. The brightness and colour blows me away each time I walk past one in a shop.

I'm plasma man at the moment. But if I could afford a 52" LED TV, or if they were the same price as the plasma I have, no doubt I'd get the LED.

LED TV are pretty new and clearer but they are more expensive. I think LCD TV's are still pretty cool! But if you got the money, then why not get a head start on the rest us? =] Oh, haven't really heard anything bad about LED's except they cost more.

All I know is that they use a fraction the power of an LCD or Plasma and produce better blacks because they effectively switch off the LED in that particular area to produce no light. I've never seen one up and running though, only read about them.

LEDs are now used in everything from general lighting to street lights due to their efficiency and longevity. So yeah.....if you've got the cash, then go for it.

Feel free to rub it in once purchased too...(you b4stard )

he tells me though the picture quality is superb (its led ffs cmon) the audio is absolute shiit house

Wouldn't you route the audio through an amplifier? Or is there something here I'm not getting?

Yeah the sound on them isn't great, however that is fixed with a sound system. It's just because the TV is so thin they basically took all of the speaker system out of them.

do you have any in your house and how do they compare to the theater room ? as i myself am interested in led rather than lcd/plasma ?

I have one...I have the first LED tv that came out though (Samsung a950) but the new ones (6000,7000,8000,8500) are incredible. Like stated they use almost no energy, have a beautiful slim look, they have the contrast ratios of plasmas in the millions yet have no glare or burn in effect like plasmas. If you feel like spending the extra couple hundred I deffinately reccomend them, It's the first time I've bought a TV and loved it every time I looked at it

I say go for it! They're not prohibitively expensive like most new tech is either.

Make sure you get one before I come visit and crash on your couch.. what's that? I haven't told you about my plans yet? don't worry Guyver, just expect me when I turn up ok!

Thanks for the feedback guys right now I'm just shopping around so it may be a while before I grab one. My current TV has all the sound running to an amp so it wouldn't bother me if the LED TV came with no speakers at all.

I have been putting off buying a PLASMA/LCD TV for a couple of years now, but now that I've decided to get one it'll be the LED. If you have the money then I'd say go for it Guyvie.

grab a sony LED, it may cost you more but they have more LED's in them than the samsungs.

same with the LG, but more LED's doesnt necessarily mean better...the Sony and LG's are backlit (all the LED's are in the back of the TV) but the samsungs are all edge lit since the TV is so thin, just because theres more LED's doesnt mean better TV
