So are you saying Super Mario isn't a hardcore game because it doesn't have blood and guts?
You realise casual vs hardcore is generally referring to the depth, length and headroom for a game? Like... Team Fortress 2. Thats pretty casual. Reason being, its hugely easy to play, its gameplay is balanced, shallow and really does not reward skill at all. So any gamer can walk in there and get a score close to the top. Compare that to Counter-Strike, a new player to that will walk in and swiftly be handed their ass on a silver platter and take months to even break even consistently.
Now both of these games are essentially online multi-player shooters, they're even made by the same company but they're VASTLY different in terms of accessibility. That's what I call casual vs hardcore. If you don't put the hours into TF2, no matter you can still walk in and be competitive. Not so with Counter-Strike, you have to be hardcore enough to put in the hours and hours of playtime that are required to get yourself high on the scoreboard.
Nothing to do with blood and guts, if anything TF2 has quite a lot more of that.
