I think it should've been still the top four to make the finals. Top six makes teams that really don't deserve to be there a chance at the title.

lolBurnley.
1-0 victory over Everton.

Plus Tottenham continued their great run with a 2-1 away victory over West Ham.

Burnley are on fire.

I am really not liking the mighty reds chances this year. Adelaide Utd, that is.

What's so "mighty" about them?
'Crummy' would be a more appropriate adjective.

Let me know when you guys make it to the final of the Asian cup, alright?

Also, unlike everyone else will have to we actually had to win our group stage, so it's different. We were very consistent during the whole AFC - Fifa club world cup campaign. I just don't know why we can't bring that consistency to A-League.

Right! You've got me started...
Back when Adelaide and Melbourne were representing the A-League in the ACL, Melbourne had the unfortunate luck of having Gamba Osaka (AKA, the eventual winners!) in their group. Melbourne came 2nd in the group to Gamba, and as a result, missed out in playing in the knockout stages.
Did Adelaide come runner-up at the ACL? Yes, they did.
Were Adelaide the 2nd best team at the ACL? No. They were already 2nd best to Gamba and Melbourne AT LEAST.
That being said, Adelaide certainly did surprise me in making it that far, so I suppose they deserve credit for that...
*Takes in deep breath*

Anyways, Scousers beaten at home by Villa 3-1! Muahahahahahaha!!!
It also ended their 35-match unbeaten streak at home.
It also makes the competition very interesting. You would think that the Spurs would drop off slowly during the season, while Chelsea will keep up their pace.

How were they second to Melbourne? They never played in the ACL, in which conditions were completely different to A-League... So unless Melbourne BEAT Adelaide in the ACL, which they didn't, there's no way you can say they were the better team in the competition.

Different conditions? How so? They would still be played on Australian soil. It WAS during the A-League season (from which we beat Adelaide SIX times out of six). I think the A-League title means more to the players than the ACL, quite frankly.
Just say Chelsea was in the same Champion's League group as Manchester United and Juventus and eventually came 3rd in their group. The Champion's League final consisted of Manchester United and, say, Celtic. Does that mean Celtic is a better team than Chelsea? Definitely not. Chelsea would kill Celtic any day of the year, but they just got unlucky to be drawn with Manchester United and Juventus in the group stages.
I'm saying we got very unlucky to be drawn against the eventual winner of the competition, and I think it's very unfair to say that we went poorly in the campaign since Melbourne are the best Australian team.

I never said you did poorly. All I'm trying to get across is that Adelaide can't be considered a bad team because of inconsistent A-League results, when they are very much consistent in external competitions.

It's a consistency thing, not an ability thing.

I'm sorry? They aren't the best Australian team...?
What other Australian team has won two premierships AND two championships?

Dermy, that actually makes them the most achieving Australian team and not the best Australian team.

I'd say that Gold Coast Utd. are actually looking like the best team at the moment.. I suppose we'll see when they play Melbourne, won't we?

Achieving the most IS the best.
I'm sorry if our definitions differ, but to me if you achieve the most, you are quite simply the best.
If Gold Coast somehow wins more titles than Melbourne, then they will be the best.
Simple.

That's just like saying Burnley is better than Man Utd. They beat them, but by no stretch of the immagination are they better than United. Same goes here, Gold Coast may beat Victory but Melbourne still has 2 titles to GC's none. Which makes Melbourne the best team.

No it's not. Not once did I say that one team *was* better, I was simply stating that having more trophyware does not make you the best. I don't even know how you interpreted my comment like that :S

Before Usain Bolt ran in his first international competition, was he the best - for having the ability to run the fastest time - or was the person before him better because they had lots of gold medals?

The person before him. Clearly. Usain Bolt is currently the best because he holds the world record. Melbourne Victory is the best for holding the record for most titles.
Using Usain Bolt isn't a very fitting analogy, anyway. The olympics rolls around every 4 years, so there are some athletes, who may be the greatest ever, may not even participate due to injuries, age, etc...
The A-League is on EVERY YEAR, so there's no excuse.
Just admit Melbourne is the best. I know it hurts because you're South Australian, but thems the facts, brother!
Tottenham are apparently the best team at the moment in England...

That's a flawed argument... These things are based on skill level and ability, not what you have won when the better person wasn't even there!!

Usain Bolt was better at the time because he was capable of doing better than the 'best' at that time.

and if you're going to say Tottenham are the best in England at the moment, doesn't that mean Gold Coast are the best in Australia at the moment? :S

'Just admit Melbourne is the best. I know it hurts because you're South Australian, but thems the facts, brother! '

And that's just screwed up. I KNOW Melbourne are better than Adelaide.. that doesn't make them the best.

I'd say Melbourne are the most SUCCESSFUL team, not the best, just like Liverpool, who are the most successful, yet are failing badly at the moment.

Let's just hope they bounce back, they only lost twice last year and now they've already lost two.

True. They lost to Tottenham last year as well.

Oh well, hopefully they get better now.
