The only reccomendation I would have is to get the 32bit version of vista if you have older games you like to play.
I am about to downgrade to 32bit myself because of a few small incompatabilities, they wouldn't matter except that they are mostly in my favourite games, lol
The 64bit does nothing special really anyway. I have a 64bit processor and stuff and have barely noticed a difference in speed between the 32 and 64bit, just a difference in what games/programs will work on them.
Vista is great, if you can look past the UAC forcing you to allow things when you run them as an administrator (you can turn that off though, if you want to)
