Yes. This guy came on COD4. We were all happily playing until he rants on about "how xbox sucks, how nerdy it is for us to be playing at 8am (which i was at 10pm because of the time difference)" and all this crap. He was so hypocritical.

agreed, no protection sounds good to some of us, but untill the world is completle and assuredly free of all evil and other bad-type things (which it will never be)

I think that this is basically the same argument as violent games. I would love to be able to talk to ppl over the net while playing games but as a parent I wouldn't want my 5 year old on the net with a microphone talking to everyone and hearing what they are saying.

It is more the parents responsibility not the game companies. The problem is there are alot of parents out there that don't monitor what their kids are doing and then wonder why things go wrong. Then again there are parents out there that do everything they can to keep their kids away from the bad stuff and that also causes a problem because the kids don't understand that they can't just say or do anything they want and give their details to the first person that offers them something for free over the net.

It isn't fair that everybody misses out because of a minority, but sadly until EVERY parent starts taking notice of what their kids are doing online the game companies have to resort to their own measures to stop themselves being sued over something that wasn't their fault in the first place. Unfortunately I don't think that will ever happen

Everyone else is either upbeat, annoying or otherwise ruining the atmosphere in a game. Headsets do need to come out, but not necessarily in the way that other systems have them (team chat) a good option (keeping with nintendos strategy) would be exclusive communication between those who have traded friend codes (this could be a background application so it runs across all wii games, speed run race anyone?). This would ensure a safer chat environment while hardcore players could open up good team chat, any1 who wants to argue the point plz PM me cos i wont check back

Well I do agree with you there. It is much better when you talk about the game itself I suppose. But think of it this way as well. Everyone in the world shouldn't have to suffer without headsets just because of little kids!!

its because young kids can be talked around the choice that that **** happens ,as adults or teenagers we know when we are being conned but young kids dont and they dont know they shouldnt talk and there in lies the problem .
now are you saying for the sake of online chat that a 10/12 digit code is worth risking a childs well being over ?

And maybe it was just the ps3 community but on average there would only be like 1 or 2 people playing with voice per match so all you'd hear is one guy saying "I can see you!" or " You {exploitive} n00b!" or "Ohhhhh you killed me".
Keyboard functionality for wii (small chat box in game) would be cool but it would have to be implemented in rooms without 1 to 1 or private interaction to fend off freaks.

It's not always the case. Like in Halo 3 Big Team Battles, it's good talking to your team. PLanning attacks, asking someone to pick you up in a vehicle if you have the bomb, or just socialising. Not that I
ve done any of those 'cos Kolpol didn't buy a headset
But yeah, also simple friend games would be good with some sort of headset. It actually makes more like an actualy friend game.

Yeh. Its somewhat awkward talking to a competitor on the other end of a competitive game. People are just so high and mighty when they get the hit on you. Why do you think in-game voice chat on World of Warcraft is so ****? Because everyone just thinks they are the greatest player and they talk to everyone like they are noobs or 6 years old... Chat boxes ftw... Thats a fantastic idea

May I suggest the "I don't even have a wii" option be changed to "I don't play online" makes more sense with the rest of the poll
