It was added at this time because a lot of people grabbed their replacement straps when they ordered their Wii Jackets, which have been arriving in peoples letter boxes recently.

I don't use the straps myself but I do try to get other people to use them if they play my Wii but that never works either because people tend to forget or don't care so I just give up. I have had one mishap when I had the Wii at work and a guy flung it into the projector screen and then from there it hit tiles but lucky the Wiimote still worked.

As many would have heard, you can order the new stronger Wii Remote straps to replace your existing ones, but it seems that Nintendo would like you to return your old straps when you receive your new ones, because they enclose a self addressed envelope with the new straps.
