MadWorld debuted in 8th place in last weeks Australian gaming charts. First reports out of the US suggested similar results, in that the game wasn't selling as high as mature gamers would have hoped, and was still easily being beaten by launch titles such as Wii Play. Sega however, are wrapped with the first set of sales data from MadWorld. They are also happy with the success of House of the Dead: Overkill.
Sean Ratcliffe, vice president of marketing at Sega of America made he comments in an interview with VentureBeat. When asked how consumers were responding to Sega's mature titles he said "House of the Dead has done very well and has absolutely met our expectations. The first set of data for Mad World is very encouraging, as well."
The follow question regarded the chance of a sequel to MadWorld, and turning it into a franchise. "If it resonates with the audience, yes, we absolutely want to make that into a franchise. I think it’s unique, and there are many aspects of that game which are sort of pushing boundaries. And it’s just great fun" said Ratcliffe.
