The New Play Control! Range of GameCube titles enhanced for the Wii will not sell at the full retail price of a Wii game in Europe. Nintendo have priced them with a recommended retail price of £29.99 in the UK, which translates to approximately AUD $63.
While Nintendo have set this recommended price, not all retailers have followed it. Some stores have the games listed at £39.99, the same price as a full release Wii title, although it is expected that most will follow the suggested price. "Nintendo do not set prices. It is up to retailers at what price they sell any item for. However, our trade price for these games will be below our usual trade price for Wii games and our present estimate of the likely retail price is in the region of GBP 29.99" said a Nintendo Rep.
Nintendo has also confirmed that the Australian versions will come complete with the reversible covers seen in Japan. The cover marketed and displayed on retail will feature a shrunken box art with a large "New Play Control!" logo and description of the Wii enhancements. The flip side will feature the original Gamecube box art with a Wii logo, in the same fashion as a regular Wii title.
Pikmin will be the first title to be released in the New Play Control! series in Australia when it arrives on February 26.
