Legends of a bygone era (1987) tell a tale of a shoot-em-up called Dragon Spirit. Unleashed upon the world in arcades, it quickly became a fan favorite and swooped onto consoles. Now you can blaze through this fiery fast-paced shooter on Wii™ Virtual Console™!

Dragon Spirit is a vertical shooter of epic proportions! The Kingdom of Mitgult had been a peaceful place for 1000 years. That is, until the local evil serpent Zawell escaped its imprisonment and made off with Princess Alicia. Deciding that swift action was better than cowering in fear of their oppressor, the people of Mitgult shoved a single young soldier forth to face their enemy. Charged with the task of destroying Zawell's armies and rescuing the Princess, our young hero thrust his sword into the air, transformed into a giant blue dragon and flew off to save the day!

The game boasts 9 levels of fire breathing mayhem with giant boss battles, including a final one with Zawell himself! Collect power-ups along the way to increase the strength of your firepower. This either grants your actual shots more destructive potential or allows your dragon to grow multiple heads for up to a triple shot capacity! Be careful though, if you get hit by enemy fire you will steadily lose your heads and have to build your power back up all over again!
