i know that feeling... the game where you stack the blocks up. i spent about $10, got to the top row each time and never won, i should of settled for the whoopee cushuion but no, i had to be greedy!

I KNOW THAT GAME! It get me everytime. I remember we went to this resturant that has this HUGE arcade in it & me & my boyfriend spent wayyy too much time trying to win a DS at the top. We came close but never got it.

Arcades are crap these days. I look back on the good old days where you could walk into an arcade and play all the fun games like Frogger, Donkey Kong, Scramble etc. None of this Neo-Geo cookie cutter games..

"Ooooh... look 400 skill testers. If I spent $20 on this machine I'll get 1 million tickets, now I only need another 40 billion tickets to trade in for that $5 yo-yo..."

There was nothing I loved more as a kid than going down to the local pub with $2 worth of 20c coins and spending a couple of hours playing Xain De Salina and What ever other game they had at the time. Some Ninja game.

all ticket games are crap anyway, and the skilltesters are rigged, but there are still arcade games, yesterday i saw someone playing The Simpsons arcade game, there are still street fighters at some, there hasnt been a good arcade in years, there used to be one close to me that had heaps of great games, dad would take us there, we'd spend hours playing but now it is a karate school. Intencity is good with friends where you can play daytona and that.

I go on vacation every year to this place called York Beach & they have this great arcade. They have this one whole section just devoted to old school games. Most arcades now just have the skill games vs. the old school.

I love going to the arcade. Dedicated driving/flying cabinets and Bemani (beatmania, DDR, dance maniax, drummania, guitar freaks etc) games are too large/expensive to set up in the average home. It just annoys me that most arcades in australia are crap, Most arcade games these days have online play and use memory cards for saving but hardly any aussie arcades have internet so we can't play online or they retro fit the games into older cabinets that don't have memory card slots *mutters*
My favorite arcade game atm is Initial D 4, probably put 400-500 bucks through that game so far *chuckles*

The basketball, sport, shooting ones are cool and i won a chocolate at the chocolate machine at amf bowling, i used about 8 bucks and i won one after i used 6 bucks but tried one more turn but lost so got expensive chocolate! lol.

those stacker games a rigged, i know plenty of people who always get to the top but when you get there it actually skips a block so it is near impossible to get it

I just read the operators manual for those stacker machines and guess what I found out.

1) Every $100 in the cashbox, $30 worth of prizes should be won.
2) The Stacker runs on a skill level (default 8/10)
3) Major Prize Wins- Approximately ‘1’ win every ‘400’ games played.

How crapy is that. The Stacker default settings are set to a '30%' scheme.

So 30% is the max you can get back of what you put in the Stacker, unless of course luck comes into play.

Daytona. Need I say more. The latrobe uni arcade (therapy) have the best daytona machines, tight steering and gear stick, a real premium ride. And 1 buck for double laps! (8 laps on advanced).

Therapy is a great place for competitive gaming too (virtua tennis, tekken, maximum tune, daytona and pool.)

Good place to blow some steam.
