Well it's more of a typo that became intentionally used as when you press shift, the letter z is right next to it, thus you would get zOMG, more or less like owned becoming pwned, o is next to p

well it's more of a quick response, though with LOL i use "hahaha" as well, though where "hahaha" doesn't seem to fit, "lol" does

Though with today's internet culture, people are abbreviating everything just to make their message shorter, more common for text messages where it's easier to write shorthand and not take up as much space, though on the internet its a different story, though it's more of a crossover of sorts, used to typing text like so continue to use it in chat.

Abbreviations or acronyms (chatcronyms in this case) are just an easier way of getting a point across instead of typing out full words, especially if you are a slow typist :|

Though i ask, would you type out rofl or roflmao in full or use the chatcronym

I do agree to some point the whole "I'm a lazy wanker" type thing, maybe not in those words but something to that e

I agree, in a txt i can understand, save space, money, time. But on the net there is no reason to short hand type. Most people these days can touch type so its only about lazyness.

That really depends. unless you are a proficient speller and can actually type fast enough well then yeah but not everyone can spell everything and/or type fast enough, though it's more the longer acronyms more than anything.

Though it'd be a bit annoying seeing "Laugh out loud" in place of "lol"

"lol" "rofl" and "brb" i find acceptable and to a lesser extent "wb" as well

What about games such as MMORPG types in which you are at your keyboard, there are other games, racing games and such in which people use their keyboard to control if they dont have a gamepad

Not necessarily, many online games will automatically put your character into an AFK status if you go idle for a certain amount of time. Most commonly typed by a player just befor leaving thier keyboard
