Why you should never buy a game from EB.

Yesterday, I go into EB Games and buy Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. I touched it about once to stick it in the Wii and played for about 1 hour. I find out Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is not a game I like, so I stick it back in the case and decide to return it. Today, I go up to EB Games and ask if I can return it and pre-order Super Mario Galaxy. Before I can say anymore the lady at the counter has checked over the game and she says to me "I am sorry, there is a scratch on the disk" (Which I still can't see) "You cannot return this game, you could if you had a game guarantee." (Same lady served me yesterday, and she didn't offer! I totally forgot about it.)

I walk out of EB Games stuck with a game I don't want, and a fond thought stuck in my mind...

...Never buy anything from EB Games again.

You could try taking it to a Blockbuster, getting them to shave it and then try to return it again when she isn't there. Or even just try taking it back when she isn't there and get another employee.

EB Game's is a terrible game store anyway, the people that work at my local store don't know anything about game's except for the price and trade-in value which they still give you $25-$30 if you hand in a game that you bought the day before. Like I did with Metroid Prime Hunter's.

If you honestly can't see a scratch, you can't see any marks of interest on the disc to which they can say no, then f***ing shove it on the counter and say give me my damn money, ask for the Manager, talk to the Area manager, ESCALATE!

EB Games drive me nuts, they are the "Corporate Wannabees" of the game industry...seriously what gaming store forces its employees to wear ties, gamers are the most casual laid back people we don't care what you look like!!!

I avoid that store like the plague, I go to JB or someone instead.
I don't recall ever seeing them cheaper than JB why pay full price at EB??

Im lucky my local EB actually has gamers there. They'll actually discuss games with you. They actually know whats going on, and when i return stuff or price match there no probs!

Other EB's my gosh! Full of retail noobs! I feel sorry for parents that go in there "you should really buy this game for your kid its great, you should also get the game guide so your kid doesnt get lost while playing"

This is also why I usually hire some games before hand. Or read some reviews But if you cant see a scratch and they say it does that is really dumb! They really should take it back under there 7 day policy.

I couldn't go back to a wired controller. Too many times I use my 360 to watch movies/tv shows that I've downloaded and sit back on my bed watching and flicking through shows. It's also handy I have found to have it next to you on the bed so if you fall asleep and wake up then you can just use the button on the controller to turn it off.

You can make a wireless controller wired anyway if you really want, just get a USB charger.

Mabye, because you can get a Game Guarantee, which means, as soon as it is scratched and doesn't work, you can take it back and get a brand new one. Game Guarantee only costs $4.95 and most shops don't let you take the game back if you don't like it, Eb Games have a 7 day trial.

My EB games is awesome! They do everything right, have great customer service, and when my 360 went RRoD, i walked in and they replaced it on the spot no worries. I hear horror stories about EB all the time, but the one where i am is fantastic and i always shop there.

Look, man, obviously you came across a staff member who was an idiot. - It's happened to me, too, but I just spoke to the store manager and the issue was resolved.
As with any chain of stores, some will have good staff, others, not so good. - The two EB's closest to me have excellent managers who will helpwith any problems you might have. I love EB Games, I never buy anywhere else. (Except for rare stuff off eBay.)
Don't tar them all with the same brush.

Cant say I could fault our EB store, have taken games back within 7 days NP, have taken back things that have stopped working, again NP.
The guys are great they know what they are talking about, they are friendly, let us try games before we buy them, give great discounts, If a game is cheaper else where they will match it then drop another $5 off it
Game warranties are only $3
Couldnt fault our store at all

maybe your store just sucks
