Wii Hardware \ Samsung 42" Plasma or 40" LCD

Hi all. I was hoping I could draw on the thousands of you out there in the hope that some of you have the following TV's:

Samsung 40" LCD (Model: LA40M81BDX)
Samsung 42" Plasma (Model: PS42Q91HDX)

The LCD supports 1080p resolution, whereas the Plasma does 1024x768.

Does anyone have either of these. I'm wondering which is a better buy if I can get them for roughly the same price.

Especially interested in knowing how the Wii looks on em. Cheers.

the difference between lcd and plasma is something like 50,000 hours to 80,000 hours. at the lower scale its 8 hours a day for 17 years so this is not a problem. The benefits of either/or is a big list. The things that come to my mind straight away is plasma can display pure black (which is a big thing for DVD's video games etc) & comes bigger and cheaper. LCD can be used for a much larger range of devices such as your computer, does not have burn in (which is a almost non existent now anyway).

Wow, I don't know much about plasmas/lcds, but the LCD looks like it could be future proof, with the 1080p support or "True High Definition" as a lot of retailers call it.

I sell and install HDTV's for a living and i far prefer the picture on a Plasma. Motion blur on LCD tv's really annoy me, and unless you have a ps3/blu-ray player, there is no need to go for 1080p because it will be a decade before TV is broadcast in that resolution and 1080i is good enough if you don't have a Ps3. I recommend the plasma, and when that eventually dies, Laser TV will be the next big thing.

Perhaps you should have had a better look. PC World Magazine recently rated the Panasonic TH-50PZ700A panasonic.com.au/ as the best screen money can buy right now...and ITS A PLASMA. Plasma screen are sharper, brighter and with no motion blur and Panasonic/Sony are the leader in the TV market right now, far above Samsung, Sanyo, LG and NEC.

You have to remember, products like this are personal based.
if people want to compare TV's to each other and quote this and that about them, go ahead...it'll be a pointless discussion that'll probably turn into an argument.
What do YOU want the TV for
Find the strengths of an LCD
Find the strengths of a PLASMA
When you have cleared those, your decision is basically made for you, because you will have sorted out what your requirements are in a TV.
DON'T buy something because its futurproof
Thats a load :P Technology takes a step this way, then that, then it jumps 5 feet straight ahead...
Just buy the tv thats right for you, with a mindset that it could in a few years be replaced by something TOTALLY revolutionary

Hey i'm just quoting facts. As someone who sells and installs HDTVs for a living, i have to be in the know on what is the best quality and what isnt. Everything i posted above your post is pure factual information based on professional tests and review...not to mention what i have seen with my own eyes. If you want a tv 42"+ then you get a Pioneer or preferably a Panasonic Plasma screen as they are the best screens above that size (they dont make plasmas under 42"). You are right about something totally revolutionary replacing current technology, Laser TV will replace plasma within 2 years and OLED will replace LCD within 4 years.

Dont wait Krush Em, otherwise you could end up waiting for the next big thing & the next big thing & never buy. I thought the same thing last year, now I've got a 50" Pioneer Plasma, and am very satisfied.
Just do your research, buy one and enjoy
