Is that 3 to 4 hours or 3 quarters of an hour?
If it was 3 quarters, then somethings wrong, I think.

I've had Zelda turned on for 4 days straight (the first day I played a bit, but the next three days I didn't play at all) and it has never gotten any hotter.

i played it yesterday for about 2.5 hours and had it paused a bit as well and it didn't skip a beat. either it is the wii playing up or the disc IMHO

I'd say burn the game again in a different brand dvd.... I always use Ritec Dvd's and it has never given me any problems. Maybe might be the brand of dvd ur using thats causing a glitch.... u never know besides that like Mr modern said it might be wii if it keeps happenin to other games, try it with other games if it only happens with MP3 than u know what the problem is

these sort of things happen from time to time on all consoles.

and because MP3 is more action and has prettier graphics, it may be working the Wii a little bit harder than most other games like say, Zelda or Mario Party. The temperature can affect an electronic device especially if you've been playing for a while.

cooling fans are good to have anyway in any case.

i read somewhere that to avoid having double channels you should turn off your Wii's internet connection before running the game. the update on the game apparently adds the extra channels because it's for a different region.

Does anyone have confirmed information as to how to avoid semi-bricking (Double Weather/News channels) your Wii with this game?

phatbass82, someone called "nehs" posted a workaround which apparently works (doesn't create duplicate channels). as always, do it at your own risk:
gbatemp.net/

My advice is:
wait for the local release, if you can wait that long.

The method works.

Also I played MP3 for 24 hours or so in a row, didn't get hot.

But I finished it, so I'm happy.

Thanks for the link. I'm not a member, but I read an afterdawn forum which took the how-to from that website. It sounds a little dodgy, the whole unplug Wii at 10-15% update.

EDIT: I just realised I was already a member of that website. Here's what it had to say about duplicate channels and how to avoid:

3. Make TWO NEW FOLDERS.
4. Copy the original ISO and paste one into EACH of the new folders you have created.
5. Run ONE of the copyed ISOs (leave the original alone...!) with Brick Blocker.
6. Run the OTHER copyed ISO in Region Frii (convert FROM USA to PAL!) (dont know if runing it through Region Frii is necessary, but I did it...)
7. Now burn TWO discs. ONE with the ISO that was "BrickBlocked" and the second disc with the one that was "Region Friid" (keep order of which disc is Brick Blocked and which is Friid...!).
8. Now you have two copies of Metroid Prime 3, right?
9. Try to insert the BRICK BLOCKED game. Black screen. No problem.
10. Insert the Region Friid game. It will now say "Initiating Wii System Update" and you can press "OK". Press OK, then on the next message press "I accept".
11. NOW! Let the update run for SOME SECONDS. Let perhaps 10-15% of the bar get blue, then UNPLUG your wii console!!!!!!
12. Insert the power again, turn on your Wii. You do NOT have double channels now.
13. Insert the game that you Brick Blocked (the one that used to give you a black screen...). Let it load, and BOOM; it works. Now you have a working Metroid Prime game and a non-doubled Wii

phatbass, I also found this easier method for wiikey people:

1.Burn the original iso
2.Burn a brickblocked iso
3.Do the original iso update till 15% and then cut off the power
4.Play the brickblocked one without double channels

Again, if you are not bad enough to do this, then wait for the local release

Hehe. I was just reading that method as well. I've found that the originals don't work without patching it with wiiregionfree.

I'll be trying it this afternoon, hopefully. I'm pretty confident to take the risk.

make sure you run your Wiikey Config disc first and enable the Region Free option.

This works. I did it about two-three days ago. Just pull the power chord out when its updating, about 10% done, and then plug it back in, start up the Wii, and insert the brickblocked disc, presto MP3.

hola!!!

I did mine as well followed the 2 cd swap steps and worked flawlessly without a hitch. No double channels, plus no probs. Pitty it was 1am in the morning and had hit the hay for work in a couple hrs. Might have a go 2nite and see if its better than 1 and 2.

Hope i won't be dissapointed.

I would recommend doing the update first to 3.0E.

Guys, i've got problems. I just ran the WiiBrickBlocker as per instructions I listed above, but my Wii doesn't even recognise the disc. The disc with the Region patch works, it asks me to update, so I do, then yank out the cable at about 10%-15% complete. Then I load the other disc in and it doesn't work! Any suggestions? I'm thinking I have to delve to the Wiikey boot disc to alter the settings (i now have to go to the shops to buy dvd's to burn the new config disc...). I've never used WiiBrickBlocker before, only the region free patcher. Do you reacon I should run the region patcher and the wiibrickblocker programs for the one ISO?

EDIT: Thanks for not helping. I now have semi-bricked my Wii! Yay, go duplicate channels!
