Age of Empires was OK, particularly AOE2, but I prefer Warcraft and Starcraft for their better multiplayer.

I was such a wall-whore. In AOE1, as soon as I advanced enough I'd send a heap of villagers over the my enemy's base and build small walls right around the edges of their Town Centre and Barracks to prevent them from building more units.
