Wii Software \ GameCube on Wii - Can you get back to Wii Menu?

This might seem like a silly question, but I ran a search for this before I posted and I couldn't find any information on it.

As the topic suggests, I would like to know if it's possible to get back the Wii Menu once you have loaded a GameCube game? I was hoping there would be some nice method like holding down the reset button or even a control pad button combination, but so far the only way I have found is to power the console off, and then turn it back on again.

The Wiimote doesn't look like it works when you are in GameCube mode, and I was hoping one of you peeps might know. Is there an official way, or is the on / off method all that is available?

Thanks for your help!

I really don't think you can get back to the Menu at all. You do have to turn off the Wii and turn it back on. This is really annoying.

It's also annoying, the fact that the Wiimote is disabled and also not being able to use the "Classic" controller for gamecube games. I think it would be cool if we could use the "Classic" controller for these games...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I like that fact that when you are playing VC games that you can just hit the home button on the Wiimote to jump back to the Wii Menu.

I realise that under GameCube mode stuff like the Wiimote doesn't work, but I was hoping you could at least hold the reset button that would initiate a softboot on the Wii instead of powering it off. It's probably the one thing Nintendo have missed when they gave the console GameCube compatibility.

Thanks for the prompt reply, guess I will have to make do with the power button at least for now. Let's hope they fix it in a Wii System Update, we can only hope at least

Thanks thetooth that does work, but yes it basically does a full reset of the console. On the bright side, it now means only one button press instead of two

Might use this way from now on even tho it is pretty much the same thing. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, just press the home button on the wiimote, might have to press twice (one to turn on the wiimote, other to activate the button) that brings up the option to go back to the wii channels, also works within VC games

It's impossible.
It's the same reason why we can't save to SD cards w/ gamecube.

It may be possible to enable it, but that means the re-release of every single gamecube game with a code in it telling it that the hardware in the Wii cane be used.

It's not possible, it's not going to happen.

The only way something like this could happen is if there was some sort of program running in the background that emulates the Wiimote/Classic Controller. Though this is still impossible untill Wii Homebrew comes about or Nintendo themselves implement it (HINT)

A firmware hack would fix this.
Though Nintendo won't do anything.

Actually, it won't. Wii has 100% Gamecube compatibility because it is a Gamecube when playing Gamecube games. No Wii software or Wii hardware are usable in Gamecube mode.

True, that's teh way I originally thought of it.
Leaving the only option: Re-release the games enabling use of Wii hardware, or recognising Wii hardware.

Or, leave portions of the Wii firmware running in the background (as I said before) which emulates a classic Control as a GC control.

No.
Probably not. :P
Just throwing ideas out there, there's no truth in what I'm saying.

Or you could do a mod (somehow) ie: put a power button on a GC controller. I have no idea what interface they connect with, but with the XBOX it was as easy as modifying a few cables, adding a switch. Bang. Power button.

...not unlike soldering a couple of wires across the Wii's On/Off button and soldering a N.O. push-button switch across the other end then cable-tying it to a GC controller...
It'd work, would void any warranty and if you're the ham-fisted type, would definitely bugger-up your Wii, if not just it's sleek looks.
I wouldn't do it and wouldn't recommend it just for what is essentially the sake of being lazy (and I'm an expert at being lazy... I had my trained Sea Monkey type this...Ook! Ook!)
