Just curious, seems to be a lot of emphasis on HD but i cant see myself spending the money on one too soon.

Do you use one? how long have you had it for and how much did it set you back?

Old Desi does.

SONY Bravia 101cm LCD TV with 1080 support. Cost me $4000+, but we got it after Christmas on a GE Money financing deal, so we've got years (notice plural) to pay for it with zero interest. If I remember correctly, it comes out to about $35 a week.

But for the Wii, it honestly, seriously, doesn't make a hell of a lot of difference. If you're thinking of getting an HDTV just for your Wii, just suck it up and buy a new gaming PC instead. It'll cost you less, even, unless you're silly enough to buy from Alienware.

Desi is right, though i wouldn't know what to get. Joyce Maine electical near where i live is selling 42" HD Plasmas for $999, and if you get PC parts online, you should be able to build a fairly decent dual-core PC with 2 gig of ram and a decent video card for the same price. Personally I find that getting a HDTV is an excellent option, as long as you get yourself a digital reciever with it (if it aint built in). The picture is just so much better than standard TV, and Wii games IMO look amazing in 16:9 480p on my 50" LG Rear-Projection DLP HDTV, much better than on a standard TV.

I would wait untill 1080p (not 1080i) tvs come down in price (even though wii only supports HD up to 480p), I have a 42" HD TV, but since a lot of the games I play on the wii are not HD compatable, I have to change the conection all the time, Now I just leave it as a standard conection (not HD). That would have to be the biggest downfall of the wii.... every thing should be HD compatable on a Next Gen system.

The HD input does make a difference on the TV.

Huh? For starters, why do you have to change the connection, and secondly, what games do you have that arent 480p compatible. I think the only one i have like that is Metal Slug Anthology. Every other game i have is HD compatable and i never have to 'change connections' or whatever it is you do. I have my Wii plugged in via component, with 16:9 480p selected, and it has no problems playing any Wii/GC/VC game. The Wii can still play non-480p compatible games via component cable.

Listen, if you really want an HD tv and can't afford it just pay a hobo 200 bucks to steal you one. That's how I got a beamer and the Mona Lisa...

Yeah i just checked the collection and noticed some inconsitancies. Zelda, Mario Strikers, Wii Sports, Wii Play, Tony Hawk Downhill Jam all support 480p, but it doesn't say on the back of the case that it does, you have to look inside the very first page in the instruction manual.

Paper mario, Pinball ect. But how can some games claim to be HD compatable and others not? also When I was having trouple with my component cable, Nintendo suport said if I was playing a game that didnt suport HD it wouldnt show on the components. Some TVs can ajust I think.

I've heard of that problem relating to VC games, where people switched cables to play them. I think it probably has a lot to do with the plasma/lcd. It would be annoying like that, having to switch cables. How about just changing the resolution from HD to standard 60hz? Wait, I even heard reports of plasmas/lcd's not being compatible with the plain 60hz mode. What a nightmare.

Maybe you need a input capable of 480i. My TV is only capable of 480p - 1080i. Can other people play 'Non HD' compatable games through their component inputs? if so, is your TV capable of 480i/576i ?

I have a regular modern TV, and I use component cables. No problems what so ever using 480i.

Im using a Hitatchi PJ-TX200, set me back $2,500 and it runs my PS3, PC, TV, and Wii... I dont switch any cables. I couldnt justify a $5000 TV when for half the price i get 3x the screen size and its crystal clear.
