If your TV can only display 480p and better, then i guess you've never plugged in anything besides a Wii or better since every game before the Wii came out was 99.9% 480i. All i know is, i can plug my Wii into my HDTV, with my component cable (official), set it to 16:9 480p (EDTV/HDTV) mode, and play any Wii game, including non-hd Wii games and non-HD GC/VC games. You can play 480i games through component, i play Metal Slug Anthology and all my GC games through component cable and they are 480i. Your TV must be able to display 480i since thats what regular TV is displayed in. Its exactly the same resolution, except one is an interlaced signal and the other is progressive. 480i is the standard definition for all DVD's and standard TV, so to have a TV that doesnt support it would be retarded.

No my tv processes 480p and 480i diffrently, both modes are only used with the component inputs, I have 2 inputs 480p - 1080i and 480i/576i. Seeing as all I read on the Wii its capable of 480p resulution, so every game should work in 480p. I have a great Samsung 42"

The only other thing I have hooked up to it is the DVD player with dual progressive scan (50hz/60hz)

The difference can be summed up in the single word, squat.

Sorry, but you have a SH!T Samsung 42". That is the dumbest thing i have ever heard in my entire life, having to change to a different connection on your TV to play non-hd Wii games. I'm almost tempted to just say you're an idiot and you must have just thought that was the case, but i am hoping you tested it thoroughly enough so i'm just going with the TV being the biggest POS i have ever heard of. So you're telling me, than when you plug your Wii in via component to the plug on your TV that you say only supports 480p or better, you cannot play VC games, most GC games, and some Wii games? If so, i would take that POS to Ebay or back to the shop it was bought, ask them to make sure you are correct, and if so, trade it in for anything else. I have never heard something so rediculous. Every TV i have ever seen running component cables can display 480i/576i and 480p+ from all component/hdmi inputs. Can you find out the exact model of the TV and i will make sure you're right.

Also you would have to know that certain games wont work in 480p. Metal Slug Anthology is a port of all the Metal Slug games, and they obviously arent 480p since the arcade versions werent. Every other game i have on Wii is 480p compatible, so you'd have to be unlucky to find games that dont support it. It'll say inside the instructions if it is supported (though Tony Hawk Downhill Jam is 480p compatible and it doesnt say so).

I speak the truth, Pinball (wii) dosnt suport 480p and also the VC games I have downloaded. My TV has 2 component inputs one for 480i/576i and another for 480p - 1080i.

Firstly, i didn't know there was a Pinball game on the Wii (waste of dollars). What is the model number for your TV, can you find out. Also if this is the case, i would like to recommend changing TV's, and brands. This is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of as far as electronics goods go. You can buy brand new Plasma TV's for $999 and i think that would be a better option. It sounds like you are having to run your Wii games in 480i so you can play VC games and Pinball. Thats simply retarded and you should change televisions.

I will try hooking it up to the 480i/576i input and run some of these games, I bet thats it. It makes sence as most component inputs these days are 480i - 1080i, I dont know why my one has to be diffrent. I know it wont run the wii in 480p mode when hooked up to the 480i/576i input.
