The other day someone asked if anyone had old NES games for sale, and for some reason that got me thinking about the old days when that stuff was brand spanking new and good and bad times I had as a kid experiencing it. Like others on this site I have had a staple diet of Nintendo for many years.
One of my Good memories would be of a friend I had in primary school who's dad back then to us had the coolest job in the world, yep he worked for Nintendo, So every friday I would get a call to come around and play the latest game or try the latest accessory for the NES(this guy had the best Nintendo collection ever), then one day my mate said "come over I have something new you got to check it out" To my surprise it was the SNES days before the launch date, He had a copy on F-zero and at the time the Mode 7 graphics were freaking me out, 3D effect on a home console was making me dizzy but I loved it, at the time this was ground breaking stuff to us. For some reason that event is etched in the back of my mind permanently and is probally the reason I have stucked by the big N for all these years. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I remember once sitting in front of the TV in my pyjamas playing Super Mario Bros. 3 for 6 hours. It was the first time I'd made it through the whole game and I was so stoked. I then remember thinking 'It's over, I don't want it to be over!'. Now that I think about it, I can't believe my parents let me sit there that long!

I also remember being obsessed with Dr. Mario. I could play it the whole way through on the fastest level. Does anyone else remember the aliens at the end of level 20? I can still remember that music.

You were a lucky kid Guyver, to have grown up with a friend like that!

Yeah he was a good mate to have growing up. My Bad memory was when the Nintendo 64 was a hot item, I had to get a mind numbing casual job to afford it, so I worked my but off and gathered up enough coin to buy it, man I was stoked, high tech controller, awsome 3D graphics and stereo sound. All was bliss untill one day I was out late one night and got to come home to the horrible surprise of my room was just robbed, my beloved 64 was gone along with a heap of other stuff. That didn't discourage me though I saved up again bought another one only to get robbed again, I pretty muched gave up then a third one would be just silly, even to this day I am still paranoid about getting another one for the collection, a good example of good comes with a side order of bad.

I feel your pain Guyver. I had a big party at my house and a couple of my SNES games got stolen along with some CDs. Then, about a year later, this punk that I used to be friends with broke into my room and stole my poor SNES along with about 30 of my CDs. This was a little while after the 64's release, so I'm glad I hadn't invested in one of them yet.

But to lose two consoles, and being N64s, that's gotta hurt.:(

GREAT MEMORIES(in order of thinking of them not importance)

1) When "The Warriors" came out, last game I was excited about...
2) When I realised I had accidentally hit the hardest mode in MGS3: Snake Eater and realised it actially wasn't THAT hard, played through normal and had to change my pants at least 17 times...
3) Hearing the news that RE had changed it's camera and action settings so it wasn't so insanely annoying to control Leon...
4) Getting my first BRAND NEW console, the GAMEBOY and playing "Donkey Kong Land" on it until the batteries ran out...
5) Getting my N64
6) Playing GTA, WoW, Mario, MGS and RE for the first time...

EDIT: I thought it was Video Game memories not just Ninty...

I've got 3 standout Good memories:
Best memory was opening my Super Nintendo box for my 10th b'day.
It came with Starfox which was amazing OMG 3D!!!
Also close competition is the hours I'd spend with my mum as a kid playing Super Pinball on the SNES and rainbow islands on SMS.
Finally when I used my game genie to get a Mew in Pokemon Red before Nintendo starting offering them at Toy World, was very proud it said trainer Greg not Nintendo

Don't have any bad gaming memories (apart from the times I lose and maybe buying a cube ), I think gaming in general makes good memories...don't see how it can be anything else!

Best Memory: Playing OOT for 74 hours straight, no sleep, only left the room for toilet. I made myself sick and i was seeing things by the end (stupid water temple added like 12 hours to the time) but it was worth it and i will never forget.

Worst Memory: Playing Red Steel....Well i would actually have to say finishing Super Mario Bros 2. The game was kinda cool in its execution and music, but the ending (it was all a dream...WTF!!!!!) just made it the worst game i'd ever played.

BLASPHEMY. Getting my Cube was one of my best gaming moments, turning on Rogue Leader for the first time and drooling over the outstanding graphics, i was stoked. I played that game for weeks on end.

Edit: I'd also like to add that some of my best gaming moments include:

Finishing Shadowman
Finishing Jet Force Gemini
Finishing Iron Tank (nes)
Finishing Turok 2 and getting all pieces of the Nuke.

In fact i have personally contacted Valiant Entertainment who have the rights to Shadowman to see about a VC release. They said they've already spoken to Nintendo and it will be happening in the future!

haha I knew someone would say that to me
I was at the mid night launch for the cube so I had high hopes.
My first was Luigi which I finished in under 24 hours so I was kinda disappointed seeing I couldn't afford more games.

My worst memory is buying a Playstation 1 when it came out, i hated it so i traded it in to get some N64 games. I loved my N64 it was so fun. Every weekend me and my friends would play it for ages we kept trying to win Starwars Podracer the last level it was pretty hard back in the day, With the Wii we cant do that with the lack of fun games. I miss the old times!
