Wii Hardware \ Joytech Wii Docking Station

Foetoid says:

I just pick one up today for my two wiimotes, the new batteries slot in nicely and they're charging up right now. I DID have one on preorder through toys 'r' us (the powerwave branded one), but apparently the distributor is having problems with customs. So i walk into the local Retravision to try and locate a copy of SAW 3 (released tomorrow on dvd) and there was the joytech one. So after getting the money back from the pre-order i picked up the Joytech version. Has anyone else here got one of these or anything similar and what are your experiance with them. It's pretty cool how it doesnt charge via USB. You plug the cord into the wii consoles power port, then plug the wiis power cable in into the back of the plug from the dock station. Works well.

Doesnt that mean it would be on and using power 24/7?? or does it only use power when charging?

I just use rechargeable batteries i have about 6 batteries so a set is always charging ready for use. It cost me about 20 dollars for the charger.

I might get one of these Joytech Powerstations if I can find some in stock for the $30 odd dollar price. Wish Nintendo were bringing one out

The only power that it uses when it isn't charging is for the two little charge lights.

No the Wii doesn't have to be on, it just needs to be plugged into a powerpoint.

I've had one of these for a couple of weeks and they're great. I explain it in better detail in my review here www.mywii.com.au/
There's also an updated picture of it there.

I use Rechargeable AAs.
But a dock would be easier.

A dock would be nice but it wasn't around a few months ago so I just use rechargeables

Foetoid says:

I have been using rechargeable AA's since December 7th and 2 of them died the other day and the others dont hold there charge well now (good for wavebird). Rechargeable AA's only last a certain amount of time.

Went out today and got myself a Single Remote Charger from Big W "Power something" that uses USB. I didnt hook it up to my Wii, just plug it into my apple and put it on sleep mode and away it chargers. Seems great and doesnt take up any of my Wii USB's or splice the Wii's power.

I am happy with it so far, just waiting for the first initial 12 hour charge.

I was tempted to buy one of these, bus since I already had a battery Energizer charger, I figured I'd just get more batteries.

i use 3 pairs of Energizer AAs, but since they're only 1.2v each, they don't work as well as 1.5v batteries (non-rechargeable). i'm going to get one of these charger dock things soon, then no more batteries! (except for logitech harmony remote)

lol, Retravision? I didn't know they stocked any console stuff.

And Zoidberg, are you sure the ones that you got are the Powerwave ones?

04/15/2007 Melbourne

ZOIDBERG says:

My one is a Playmax sorry, I thought it was power something but its Playmax. They do the job well, says on the packaging it should give 40 hours of play.
