Game Cube \ Gamecube the Nintendo failure?

With one week to the Wii launch lets discuss the gamecubes positives and negatives!
Ive got a few mates who reckon the Gamecube was a dud, i believe it wasnt at all, infact my ps2 collects dust these days as i still play Resident evil 4 and Zelda, although i must say i did find it frustrating looking for gamecube games, as stores never seem to stock many titles or accesories why was this the case?
I also heard that a few game companys didnt want to make the small discs and preferd to stick to Ps2 and Xbox!

I think it was a complete failure. It was late (last one released), no internet connection, no internal memory. So many broken promise, wii were told the internet wud come it didnt. Game Developers didnt support it cause they knew they werent gonna get 2 many sales, and it offered nuthin, that wasnt on any of the other consoles. But Nintendo made money, so they would have been slightly happi.

I totally agree with you. The marketing and package of GC is so bad. I'm so happy to see that Nintendo is doing much better with Wii.
However GC is the only console that I actually bought it (I've got the other two free)

the n64 made more sales than the gamecube

I think i bought them Mario Party, and they also had animal crossing which i think conceptually, was a great game. I think that game took off on the DS didn't it?

I though the biggest downside was the lack of games. What they DID have out though were mostly good.

I think a classic exaple is Fire Emblem for the Gamecube it is a really great R.P.G but for some reason it was impoossible to find on the shelves. Its like nintendo just didnt care about selling games for Gamecube with a little advertising and shelving space some of these titles would be better known!

This is the reason you MUST get a cube controler to play cube games.

Well that's 'cause Fire Emblem was never released in Australia. Actually, a whole stack of games for the NGC were "Japan only" games which really annoyed the turd outta me. Other than that, i think the gamecube games were good, the system... hah, not much to talk about there...

But seriously, i own a ps2 and an xbox by proxy (i.e. my mate has one and i use it more than he does mwahaha) but i always find myself back at the cube games, solely because they're more fun to clock than games from the other systems. Maybe because they're games with histories i've grown up with vs something like another great game Halo which was "shoot them, they're bad... why? um.... cos... they're shootin' at us?".

In other words, i'm saying that yes the NGC was a crap system, but its games seriously saved its 6 sided ass. They just needed more. (ok, a LOT more)
