Wii Software \ Wii cricket, game controls?

If you have any ideas on how the WiiMote could be used for cricket, post them here.

My ideas:

When Batting
- you use only the WiiMote
- Simply the WiiMote is the bat
- press a button to run, and lift up the WiiRemote to call, no to a run which could have a cool shout of no coming from the WiiMote.

When feilding/bowling
- Should be allowed to choose your position on the feild
- so if you want to be on the boundary you can be
- this is a good idea so you could use the nunchuck and the remote as extensions of your arms so you can make catches.

- bowling would be simple just make a bowling motion twist the control different ways for different types of bowls.
- press and hold a button to start the run up, and release after the bowling motion to throw the ball.

- maybe instead of choosing position the game could revert control to a player in a catching position when a catch may occur.

- depending on how close you are, you would have less reaction time making slip catches harder. Kinda like when you intercept in nfl the screen rotates while the game is paused.

- it could turn to a 3D fighter style so you could just see your hands and the ball coming. This would bring a new feature to cricket games impossible to do on other consoles.

You dont let go of the remote unless you want to dude. I for one will hold onto mine....

Try going outside with a ball and bowling without letting go of it, remember practice makes perfect.

ive been discussing this with a mate and we both thought it might get too tricky for the wiimote to decipher between front foot and back foot strokes
solution
hold a button to play a backfoot stroke and if no button held its a front foot stroke

I really do hate cricket! I want a cool martial arts game with Bruce Lee in it so i can use the wiimote to swing around a real nunchuku!

hmm, would be interesting.

i'd say you could use the wiimote as the top hand (i.e. left hand for right handers). the view would be stick cricket style (from behind and a bit above the level of the batsman).

hmm... perhaps you could hold the wiimote upside down and facing you with your right hand (like when you practice your shots using your arm as the bat). B could be front foot shots, A back foot. similar controls for running - B to call for a run, A to recall/refuse the run.

if it's done well, could be something special.

I couldn't care less if they just ported one of the old EA Cricket games across to the Wii. As long as the controls were done well.

you rather a wii specific game. look at games that have been ported and whacked on wii controls and a game made specific for wii. i mean the camera position and all that would hafto suit the gameplay. i don't think we will see a cricket game anytime soon though.

yeah ricky ponting was way better than EA cricket. the batting part of a wii cricket game would be easy. The bowling is a little harder. What about fielding? it would be good if you had to throw the ball back using a a fielding meter similar to ricky pontings for accuracy.

i got an idea. for each bowler you get an overview screen to set up your fielders. bowling would be similar wii baseball? batting would be the most difficult, i don't know if the wiimote can differentiate the different batting shots in cricket. will it know a block from a drive?

It probably would be determined by the follow through like in wii sports bowling when you follow through the ball lifts

You guys should check this out:

wiiwantcricket.com/

this guy is setting up a protest site to get EA to make a Wii cricket game. There is a long forum post about it on the sites links as well.
