First post yet - i just had to bitch about nintendo.... and this is a rare thing - ive got all nes consoles that are PAL. It is quite annoying tho, to find myself for the first time getting annoyed about nintendo.

I thought.... hey, what a great concept, VC games - fantastic. so i go ahead and buy super mario bros, my first VC game (even tho i own the real thing on my nes). dam am i pissd!

Wont work on a component cable connection to my HDLCD, wont work at all! change my type to 50hz, 60hz, interlaced or progressive, doesnt matter. DOES NOT WORK. waht is the dealio nintendo - dont release products that your unable to support. just to play VC games i have to switch back to composite cables, and that is an absolute pain in the arse.

pick up your act nintendo, support the hardware and software that u release and fix these issues - and get some good VC games out, this is just rediculous

Switching to 60 and 50hz should work, works for everyone else.

Oh, and I was told that VC games auto switch to the correct resolution, etc.

I run my Wii through component and i can play all VC titles fine. In fact, Super Mario 64 looks better, must be 480p compatible.

ive done some searching around on other forums - ppl have reported the same issue. and the feedback on the issue is to just switch to 50hz, but that doesnt work. i dont know if its something about my specific tv - after all, it did cost me 800 dolla, and its a bloody nice tv for that price. hdmi with hdcp, component, dsub, scart x2 with 1366x768 res. its a nice tv.

but yea, im gonna go out and blame nintendo - clearly its possible to release all these games at 60hz, they dont need to continue to use 50hz games when everythin from america used 60hz, and id like to see this frequency enforced more as 50hz is a little behind the standard these days.

thats it tho, normal av cables work fine - its the component cables that dont work for me. the game starts off, then the tv displays out of range signal.... then the wii brings up the home menu because its obviously not working - thats when my picture comes back.... all i can do is quit

that was the first and last VC game im going to get until they fix the issue - perhaps the 64 games would work, but im thinkin ill need to wait at least another year until they decide its a good idea to bring out another 64 game on the VC - at the rate of one game a week, im not counting on it.

Go for it mate, blame Nintendo for your ****ty TV. I have played plenty of VC games via component on LCD, Plasma and Rear-Projection HDTV's with NO problem whatsoever. I even have the Wii obviously set to 480p while doing this. Ohhh noooo, it's all Nintendo's fault i bought a rubbishy TV!!! You havent even given the brand name of the TV, and for good reason i bet.

im sure it is my pathetic tv - i have no doubt, but it doesnt even work on my 50inch pioneer plasma. my lcdtv which i have upstairs is a no name tv with a lg panel.

there are issues, so settle down fella, im a nintendo fan, been one my whole life, but im pissd that theyve dropped the ball on the software support. it will only work with my av cables, and i dont know why - and it is annoying.

so foetoid, settle down buddy - take a chill pill... and realise that even nintendo arent perfect, im just annoyed that they cant support their own console.

With the VC issue, some tv's have problems as they don't all do 50/60hz at all resolutions. I believe the 360 has some issues with this in Australia as well.

PAL runs around 10% slower than NTSC. When you played these games originally, was it on an NTSC console or PAL? AFAIK, the VC runs the games at the same speed as what we got in Australia back then.

Wireless connection working? (test with Weather channel). Do you have at least a 256k connection? It takes about 2 mins to connect for me on a ~12mbit/sec connection.

You're not alone in this. I have an Acer 26" LCD TV, component cables and have the console set to EDTV, and can not play 16 bit VC titles unless I physically switch back to the composite cables.

In my case (and many other peoples) changing settings will not work. This is a software problem, the Wii changes its output and TV does not recognise the change. The big N can fix this with a firmware update but they need to know how widespread the problem is.

People need to fax or write to Nintendo Australia (they wont give out a email addy)

If you are having issues; write to them TODAY!

How many people that cant play VC games with component cables have bagged the PS3 with its cruddy emulation of PS2 games? Or the lack of support for xbox games on the 360?

It seems they all have some sort of issue :<
