Wii Hardware \ Wii hanging trying to connect to shop channel

Hi all,

Right now my wii is just sitting there hanging with the "connecting, please wait..." message on the screen.

Its been there for around 20 minutes, i dont really want to turn the wii off at the moment as it wont let me use the home key or anything.

The router i am using is a billion bipac 7401vgp, its never had any issues like this before with the wii.

Any suggestions?

Sometimes the service goes down. I don't know why though. I had this happen once, however it came up with a message that explained the issue. Try powering your Wii off. No harm could come from this, surely.

However, why your Wii has been connecting for 20 minutes without any notification of error, puzzles me.

It just happens sometimes. I suppose we have to be patient with some things.
When you power off, do you hold the button until the light becomes red? Or amber? Because it should turn off (Red light) no matter what.

Nah it wouldnt, i held it in for over 5 seconds and it didnt respond to it or the reset button.

i left mine one connecting screen once, then when i checked the gameplay times for that day, it had been connecting to shop channel for around 5 and a half hours! I reset the router and it seemed to do the trick (which was funny because my computer was working fine)

Mine was hanging because my ADSL got capped. A few applications cant stand being capped to a slow speed, and I suspect the Wii software is one of them.

yeh my wii takes a long time to load a disc about 20 secs?
Thats a long time to me im impatient
