This is a little bit off topic but I've thrown it under Wii Software given it's meant to be on its way to Wii.

But anyhow, Spore! I'm just wondering if people are excited about it or not I know of a bunch of people across the MyMedia team are quietly waiting for it. And thankfully it's nearly September too which is when it hits PC (and mac?)

I'm hoping it's going to be something seriously extensive and not just The Sims with the ability to make a leopard frog thing make love to another leopard frog thing. I'm always really suspicious of any game that makes promises of epic extensive and detailed games because they typically don't quite live up to the promise, but then again most of the stuff Will Wright has been completely hands on with does live up to this. You tend to get what you were waiting for, so I'm hoping this is the case with Spore.

The thing that has got me excited more than anything is the 'massively single player' aspect of the game, where it's a single player experience but data is being swapped between all players all the time, like creatures for example. That in itself just blew me away, and I think it's going to allow designs and other things that you wouldn't normally see happen within the game engine itself.
I'll also be really interested to see if something like that makes it into The Sims 3.

Anyhow, /rant, what does everyone else think?

i really hope it comes out on other consoles as well as the pc cause my computer cant play games so i guess id have to buy a new one. i hope you can play this game on apple computers

the experience of wat you get from the single player mode is unbelievable. you can create anything on your world or other worlds too! theres like an endless number of the things you can create including your creature. its pretty cool that you can get other peoples creatures and worlds from people who own the game, onto and around your universe, and once your exploring other worlds, theres no limit to what you can do. its gonna be awesome, i cant wait

i havent heard of any multiplayer options yet though itll be good to player single player but it would be alot more fun playing with friends

Well thats the thing, there is no direct multiplayer, it's this whole passive system of data sharing creatures and worlds and stuff between users which is totally transparent to the player. So it won't say 'do you want to swap data with blah blah', it'll just do it and you'll get weird creatures in your universe

OH! I thought that the trial had been leaked!

It's a long download anyway, so I'll wait a while and download it on the weekend.
