Which video game have you played that has left you the most scared?

The obvious joke is "xx game was so poor it was scary" but I was hoping for an intelligent discussion instead.

I played Silent Hill 2 recently and I must admit - playing that alone at night with the lights off was pretty freaky. Especially the hotel.

It has given me a hunger for scary games and I was hunting titles. So what are some of the scariest games you have played?

RE4 not being extremely scary also got me a couple of times. Mainly when that spider crawled along the wall after smashing a box in a cabin and in the maze area (more spooky than anything) where you could hear the chainsaws.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein, at times was pretty scary, especially the Catacombs mission.

RE4, at the start when walking to the first little Village, not knowing if someone was going to come out of nowhere. I was pretty timid when playing, I was always looking over my shoulder.

The Fatal Frame/Project Zero series I would say would be at the top. If anyone has played the second one they would remember the peeping child. Enough said. Such an awesome series.

Then there is a little known game on PS1 by the name of "The Last Report". This game scared me the most when I was younger. The main character who was just a normal man had a motion captured face and was frightening. Add to the fact that the game was really dark and that he had a strange voice and you have a recipe for creepiness.

You think you had it bad? I played in the dead of night with surround sound by candlelight :S And then my cousin ambushed me on the way to the bathroom

LOL, I can only imagine haha. FEAR scared me so much I had to play it during the day, or with the lights turned on and the volume turned off.

And parts of RE4, those big white things that walk slowly, and make that heavy breathing noise freaked me out, especially when you first see them.

FEAR is the only game that makes me consistently jump and scream like a (normal) little girl. Extraction Point, even more so.
