Social \ Help me buy a laptop

Hi, i hope this thread isnt too inappropriate and i apologise if it is.

I am looking at buying a laptop, and i think i have one picked out, just wanting some opinions from some knowledgeable people.

(im looking at the last one in the link for $1999)

1) Do you think this is a good deal? is there anything for similar price u would recommend over it?

2) Would it be worth the $150 upgrade of cpu from T8300 to T9300?, which would double cache (from 3mb to 6mb). Is the cache ever going to be the limiting factor in this laptop?

3) Is it a lot better then my current desktop:
Amd athlon 64 X2 dual Core processor 3800+, MMX, 3dNow (2cpus)
2gig ram
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256mb

Well I don't get where people are coming from coz I know two people now who've brought Dells and they've been completely flawless... so maybe their Laptops sucked in the past but price and quality wise I've been impressed with them both.

We just got one and its Awesome, We are actually thinking of buying another to replace our desktop pcs.

and i was told the lifespan is not as long as a desktop

get a hp they look pretty or spend the extra money on a "alienware"

Thanks for the tip goku, the reason i am getting a laptop is party due to it being a tax dodge and my boss putting in for some of it, and partly because i am planning on living overseas for a few months and would like a portable computer.

yeah same here got mine through my dads work, hey when you are getting quotes.. get the warranty for free and pay full price for the comp

instead of $1800 + $200 warranty for 5 years
laptop $2000 + free warranty

great for the half price scam ( sorry rebate )

I support the MacBook Pro statement, and now is the best time to buy one since they just released new models with Intel Penryn chips. The only reason i didn't say anythig before was that i assumed you would be into PC Gaming.
