DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 - 5/10
As a huge fan of the original Budokai series across the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube consoles respectively, i have been left pondering what Tenkaichi games would be like, until i finally gave into buying the latest installment, expecting it to be something new, fresh and adding a bit of flavor to the Budokai series. It has many modes, so i'll take you through each one by one in my own perspective.
Dragon History
The Dragonball Z sagas for those who dont know. Here you can fight those classic battles against Cell and Majin Buu, to an extent. Being somebody who has never played Tenkaichi before, i was a bit disappointed. For starters, playing with my character on a 45 degree angle takes a little bit to get used to, as it is a large step away from other fighting games, it fits itself into its own genre. but back to the story mode!
The clips in the story mode lack entertainment and it gets quite annoying pressing 1 to see the next quote of the bad guy saying you suck, then powering up to somehow make you have to bash the living hell out of him another 10 times. This lacks depth and the small talk while fighting distracts you while reading text underneath the screen. Also, tag teaming plays a vital role in a few of these fights, so its ideal to press 1 when in those battles when more than one character fight.
Ultimate Battle
The survival mode, need i say more? This is basically one of those things where you can train out hardcore before versing a mate, i recommend this to those hardcore players 
Dragon World Tour
this ones a special one. this is where you fight your world tournaments, and cell games. its great for a while, until you realise how annoying it is to WAIT for the particular battles open at a specific time. the only downside to some of these battles though, is the fact that you have to battle your way all to the top to only fight either hercule or cell. which takes the enjoyment out of playing tournaments, and most only allow you to play with one player or one specific level of difficulty. Has it taken a step in the right direction? i dont think it has, instead- it has kept the old stale world tournament thing. although it is what DBZ is well renouned for...
Dual
Play against friends! yahoo! this is where it gets interesting! finally a decent opponent. Also if you dont want to watch silly cut scene glory in the Dragon History, this is the place to go!
Dragon Net Battle
FINALLY! what looks to be a decent addition to the wii's online capabilities!! The games fast paced! I can battle my friends! but whats this? i cant even get a punch in!! ARGGGHHH! This is what i like to call 'Lag City'. In all the years i have played online games... this is quite embarassing. Buying this just for its online capabilities, it is really upsetting to see such a great game crash and burn online. maybe its my internet connection, which is smooth as silk, but something obviously went wrong here. I dont recommend this game for online capabilities thats for sure.
Evolution Z
An update to the old capsule system, but you can no longer add your breakthroughs for Goku and such. Pretty interesting. This is where you spend all your Z points (used to be called Zenie) and what not. Big help if you use the customized characters in battle... now if only there was a lag free item...
Data Center and Character Reference
Data Center lets you view replays as well as unlock new characters via passwords and character reference lets you hear lame descriptions from Chi Chi about all the fighters.
Controls
This is the interesting part;

The Wii controller i found the easiest, thus being able to use combos to the better extent. the gamecube controller i found a bit harder to use, with the game being on its 45 degree angle, i couldnt adapt to it. i am yet to use the classic controller.
Graphics
Great. couldnt want the game to look any other way. they did extremely well with this one. It kept DBZ games they way they should look and i applaud them on that one.
Conclusion
As someone who has never tread on Tenkaichi waters before, i was expecting much more out of it, being the third installment and all. Controls are fun, but you need to time them, the motion sensitivity sucks, but pulling off a ki wave- well i'll give it that one. It wasnt all that bad, but im not going to be in any rush when Tenkaichi 4 comes out.
