I'll start with the first thing I noticed when launching this game: my wii turned off 480p mode and into 576i. Not cool. The graphics immediately turned blurry on my HD TV. Still the graphics are not bad - the camera motion is excellent and animations are fluid. I imagine it would look pretty good on a SD television. I can compare the graphics to F/A -18 Hornet I had on my mac a long time ago: there's much more detail on the environment (still, it's not much detail) but the plane models are fairly simple. Textures look like they're from an N64 game. There's 2 exterior views to fly in, and one nose-camera with a very simple HUD. This game is not a simulator. No ****put view or rotatable camera. The controls are what I'll cover next, since most people will be interested in how the wii remote works. It works well. The plane flies in the direction that your remote pointer is in, and the control is excellent. (This is on basic (arcade)setting, by the way). The pointer moves well across the screen unlike some other games. The control stick is used for speed control and is pretty handy for making tight turns. Even without looking at the control screen you can work 'em out easily by trial and error. Sound... oooooh the music is terrible but luckily it's quiet. Explosions and stuff are ok but nothing special. It's pretty easy to lock on and destroy an enemy plane and the levels are paced so you wont get bored but aren't too short either. And I love the 'finishing blow' animation that shows your final enemy getting blown to bits. It's seamless, unlike some event cameras (I'm thinking of the ones in the Need for Speed series) In all, a good game. Not sure how long the single player lasts, perhaps I'll update this if I find out.
