Wii Hardware \ RayMan. Why So Good. I dont get it.

RainWolf74 says:

Why is Everyone saying RayMan is so good. When clearly MonkeyBall is better. More colorful. Better design. Over 50 mini games. Then also a story mode. RayMan is only a game full of mini games. From a review. You can Only play 3 or 4 mini games in one day, thats it. Thats like limiting how much you can play game. And seeing the same shooting things. No different weapons to shoot. The bunnies look damn ugly. RayMan has always been a platform game, like ratchet and clank, etc. But this just tries to copy monkeyball. And then have other mini games. Like cow throw. Is just a copy of monkey ball hammer toss. The shooting. Is a copy of monkey wars shooting. All I see RayMan being is frustrating and annoying.

What do you mean you can only play 3-4 games in one day, does the game have some sort of limit?

RainWolf74 says:

From the GameTrailers Review. They said you can only play 3 to 4 games, or rather mini games a day. Is it a time limit. Or limit how many different mini games you can play in a game day. Just seems wrong. As Monkeyball lets you play endlessly all 50 mini games and story mode.

I am not one of these gamers to bash a game. But I would have to say. Most of the Wii games have amazing graphics. But Rayman looks real ugly. Like sock puppets. It goes beyond looking like a kid game. It looks like really bad design. Like that killer 7 game. It looks like some crazy cartoon you would see on SBS TV channel.

RayMan the platform game. Is alot of fun. But as a mini game. Its just a novelty. Which would get frustrating and annoying after awhile.

Diabollus says:

3-4 games per day refers to the story mode of the game. It doesn't actually mean per real life day. You can play as many as you want per real life day.

The design of rayman was to look like some crazy cartoon.

If you're so worried about it RainWolf74, why don't you play it? I find it to be a lot of fun and satisfactorily silly.

The Monkeyball I remember was the same thing over and over again (mazes) plus the bonus mini games. (haven't played the Wii version to compare though, but I assume it's more or less the same).. So how is that different from minigames only in Rayman?

Hi Guys,

Just for a bit of NFO, the average for Super Monkey Ball is 76 over 33 reviews (metacritic) and the average for Rayman Raving Rabidds is 78 over 22 reviews.

Really, just play and enjoy whatever you prefer

On another note i like Metacritic because it gives you a broad view on the reviews for a gaming release.

Super Monkey Ball : www.metacritic.com/

Rayman Raving Rabbids : www.metacritic.com/

peace guys, remember competition is great, keeps them honest (well a bit)

Averages are bad because of user reveiws, find a credible unbiast site that best refects you standards and ideals and stick with them. I use gamespot, they gave zelda T.P 8.8 i think thats spot on mainly because its a cube port and not a genuine wii game.

The best reviewer you can use is yourself. Yes i read reviews, but i NEVER base what i've read by other people on whether or not to buy the game. 9 times out of 10 i'll just go out and by it if i think i like the idea of the game and on the odd occasion i'll rent it first and form my opinion off that.

For those who don't want to risk buying it first that's totally understandable, so then they should just rent it. My point is just because 20 reviewers may not like a particular game, doesn't instantly mean you'll dislike it as well. I've said beforei've read some very bad reviews on certain games and ended up really enjoying them. On the other hand I read brilliant reviews on games and never liked them at all (Halo) Bottom line is, you're the only one who knows if you'll really like the game so play them yourself and find out.

Mikey says:

I picked up Rayman at launch, and I've gotta say that it's a lot of fun. There are 70+ mini-games (although some of these are harder versions of others, eg. there's a bunch of on-rails shooter levels, a bunch of dance-rhythm levels, but that's okay because these levels are hella fun.)

Rayman has not always been a platformer. Rayman M (or Rayman Arena) was a multiplayer combat/race/skirmish game, and there has been a number of other non-platformer games in the franchise including Rayman Golf (mobile) Rayman Bowling (mobile), Rayman Rush (racing - PSOne) and a number of educational titles for PC.

There is no limit on the number of mini-games you can play in a day. The game's story mode (yes there is one) is broken up into a number of "days", with 5 mini-games per "day". Rayman and his friends, the baby Globoxes, is captured by the Rabbids, and forced to compete in these mini-games for their amusement. Eventually, Rayman comes upon a plan to escape while rescuing the baby Globoxes, which gets played out in (admittedly repetitive) cutscenes in between each day.

There is plenty of fun in single player mode, and multiplayer mode is a blast (especially in the dance-rhythm levels).

All I can suggest is to give a go some time if you can on rental and make up your own mind. It may be worth a purchase, or only a rent. Personally, I'm finding it very enjoyable, but I don't know how long that will last once I've completed all the mini-games. My
