hey guys i was jst wondering if any1 knew how 2 increase fps. specs are:
3.2Ghz Intel Pentium 4
2 GB Ram DDR
512MB nVidia GeForce Asus 8500GT
250GB Hard drive

i was wondering y i am getting low fps in game such as counter strike source can anyone help

A lot of games do that to increase performance. I can't remember exactly where but try the option menus in CS and there should be something about unrestricting the limit.

That's how it worked when I played CS 1.5 anywayz...

Lol. The human eye can't detect anything smoother than a constant 28fps, it's been scientifically proven. The reason why 60fps is perfect for gaming, is because the frame rate is never steady and even if it dips to half that, it'll still be smooth. Are you sure it's a fps problem and not a lagness problem. That PC you just listed should have NO problems playing CS:S in a good resolution with everything maxed out.

The solution is faster internet, no background processes, and playing in the evenings or in the morning so that you miss the American internet traffic.

Just a question here... But what monitor are you using? Because if you have a LCD screen that does max 60htz then getting more than 60fps is pointless as the monitor itself will discard those frames. Hence why alot of games cap at 50/60fps...

So yeh, the question remains what display device are you using and what refresh rate can it handle??

....do you know exactly how smooth 100 FPS is? Anymore frames and you'll be travvelling through time in hyperspeed. NIGHTMARE MODE: NO SEATBELTS! WHOOAAAHHH!!!!

There are many reasons as to why you are not getting more FPS in games. The first, obvious one, could be the fact that CS might be capped. As desi said, why on earth would you want more?

To get a proper gauge of performance with your new upgrades, you should be playing newer games than CS, preferably ones that you have already played. Then you should see a difference.

Always make sure you download the latest graphics drivers, as well. It's a given that you should never use the supplied CD that came with your graphics card, as usually the drivers are already a few months old. Obviously, you would use the CD if you don't have internet access at all!

Quit everything in the background.. remove all hot sexy themes and icons and sexy wallpapers

if your fps still sucks.. then somethings just weird
