I aint clean as a whistle. I've downloaded Mp3's obviously and pretty much every episode of DBZ and Naruto. Besides that, i don't burn/download movies or games....period. Well, technically i DID download a DVDRiP of Transformers, but i am buying that legit in 5 days to add to my wicked LEGIT DVD collection. My beef is with that fact that developers need as much money as possible to make decent games, especially now with development costs reaching $10 million+. By the time retailers, taxes, transporters, wholesalers and publishers take thier cut, the devs themselves are left with sweet **** all. We all like to play games, but we'd all have much much better games to play if we didn't pirate them. If WiiKey was only made to combat region coding and that was it's only feature, by all means go for it. My mum taught me patience is a virtue tho...

Did your eyes skip over the part where i said i aint clean as a whistle, or are you just dumb? Those eps i have and the music i have is a much different situation. When an artist is signed on for an album, they get paid a lump sum to record thier album, then they get no money at all from the sale of the album, all that goes to the record label. So it's not like i'm robbing the artist of thier income, unlike Wiikey robbing the devs of thier income. Also DBZ and Naruto don't really matter since they aren't making new episodes of either, they are all done with that. If they were making more eps, then i would buy them legit, so i'm not robbing them of money they need to make more eps either. Totally different situations.

Record labels have billions of dollars laying around and dont NEED all the cash they can get to sign new artists, unlike game developers who need every cent to make new games. Why do you think the market is flooded with sequals? Making a new game that noone has heard of is very very risky and if it doesnt sell, it could spell the end of the whole dev studio (please come back Acclaim/Iguana). I am robbing the distributors of the DBZ/Naruto DVDs, not the people who made them. Those 2 sets of anime shows have been over and done with in Japan for 5+ years, we're only getting it now cause thats how long it takes to get here. DBZ hit japan like 15 years ago, so obviously there arent going to be any more episodes of either show. So no, your not correct.

It might seem stupid to justify the fact i am breaking the law, but there are some big differences between what i download and downloading/burning games online. Australia has a relativly tiny population and its a bigger risk to send games all the way here to our much smaller gamer population compared to the rest of the world. That is why we pay a premium on our games, to make back the money on sending games to a smaller gamer population, they must increase the price. Thats why the US pays $49.95 for a game we pay $99.95 for. In a country like ours it is even more important than in other countries to not pirate games because of the smaller population. If piracy suddenly died in Australia totally, the price of games would fall and we wouldnt have to wait months to get games. Everyone complains about the Ps2 ported games and lack of imagination with games on the Wii as most have GC level graphics with tack-ed on motion controls. Piracy is the reason developers wont put in the extra time and money into making better Wii games cause they know the return wont be as big anyway. If piracy died and the financial risk to developers was therefore expunged, games would look and play a lot better, with a lot less sequals. I like to do my part.

Um no, because the company is still around, still making games for the systems we love to play today, and they'd make a lot better games with more money. I would definatly expect people to buy GC games legit since the money ends up in the devs pocket and syphoned back into making Wii games, which we all love to play, and GC games run on the Wii anyway. The same can be said for VC games. I am sure somewhere, someone has worked out how to play emulated games on the Wii instead of downloading them legit and its atrocious.

that wasnt for me, i couldnt be stuff doing half that stuff. I only got it for the 4 free games i got from the US i really wanted to play, but then i got over them so there was no use for it.

You say you can't be stuffed doing half of that stuff, but can drive with your mum to EB games (or whatever place you go to) and get the game? Where as you can click on a game you want to download (WHICH IS NOT EVEN IN AUSTRALIA YET) and let it download whilst you play your wii?

And the whole thing about you selling your wii for $420.00? I know for a fact that you didn't solder the chip in, so theres another fee there (unless of course, you had someone do it for you for free). And not only that, but you buy ANOTHER Wii without the mod chip, all because you can't be fuc*ed to download games.

A pirate is a pirate, you cant say its ok to steal from a record company cause its not stealing from the artist & then have a go at people who download games. After all the artist who made the game has been paid by their company just like the artist who made the music you steal is paid by the record company. ITS THE SAME THING

I download games because: their free, I get them quicker (ie: I have Metroid whilst everyone waits for its release to BUY it).

If you've got money to waste then go ahead and buy the full priced games at your local game store.

Anyway, to answer original poster. Yes you should mod your wii, because you can import games LEGITIMATELY from overseas (I'm guessing that's what the two above are arguing about). BUT, make sure you get someone who knows what they're doing (a professional) to do it, do not do it yourself.
