If you have another wireless device, check to see that it works well where your Wii is.

If the Wii cannot find the wireless network, make sure your SSID is not set to hidden.

Changing the wireless channel to 1 on the router made a little difference (you can also try channel 11), but upgrading the firmware on the router made the biggest difference for me. The connection to the Wii is very solid now, give that a shot if you have not done so already.
