Wii Hardware \ Standby Mode is damaging Wii GPU's

I know, mine heats up too. But it doesn't phase me. Nintendo have an extremely low failure rate for their consoles. I believe the techies at Nintendo have already tested this beast thoroughly and concluded that the Wii on standby will not damage the system. Obviously the few isolated cases are just normal...unlike another big headlining company I know who just extended their warranties for 3 years...

True, but noone wants to go without thier Wii cause Nintendo is taking forever with a replacement, not to mention losing VC games and downloaded content. I know you can redownload it, but only an SD card will backup save files, and if you get a replacement Wii, the games won't work from your old Wii. It's easier to simply disable standby mode if you don't use it.

lol nintendo are good with preventing this sort of thing, so thats the least thing you'll have to worry about. this is because of the large block rectangle on ur powercord, when there is a surge or anything the power block thingo (i dont know the actual name) is the thing that blows, and if it does and the most it mite produce a tad bit a smoke thats all. I know all this by experience with my gamecube

1. The warranty does stipulate that Nintendo will replace the points for your VC games.

2. As I said before, you can disable it, but that will delay the inevitable. If your Wii has a fault in it, best to flush it out now, put up with the pain of missing you console for a couple of weeks, instead of dealing with the fact that the Wii died outside of warranty and having to go out and shell out another $400 for a new Wii plus more money for the VC games.

GODDAMMIT kids. I've been on about this since I bought my Wii and no-one believed me, Ninty released a statement ages ago, it dosn't affect EVERY Wii so stop arguing it's a manufacture fault that Ninty will fix, since Standby is next to pointless anyway I'm not sending mine in...
