Yes definitely. Its the only way to protect it from becoming a brick from a game update. At the moment all updates from nintendo cant detect a chip. If your unsure in the future just check with google before excepting an update

like i said before jotendo your chip will not harm any updates ur wii has to do through nintendo or neither have any problems with connection whatsoever the chip is not in the motherboard its on the dvd rom so it will not cause any problems with ur system

nah Jifi2 it shouldnt be a prob they both have diff frequencies i think, unless u got them both on at the same time and using both controllers at the same time for both the Wii n PS3 that cuz be a prob. For the controllers only but not the Wii connection to the net
