DISCLAIMER: I have a modded Wii to play back-ups only. I download these back-ups.

Hey guys, A mate and I got Wiikey's about 2 months ago, initially I was over the moon, I had 2 back-ups that were working! It all fell apart when I tried a few more games. They worked perfectly well on my mates Wii, but not mine.

We called the guy who installed our mod's, he said that Wii's have different chip sets. The chip set for my Wii (after modding) would or wouldn't play different back-ups than my mates.

Ive tried like 10 different games, so far like 3-4 work. Ive tried both NTSC and PAL. Ive tired using region frii to change the region on the iso's to no avail.

Few questions:

1) Anyone else having these drama's?
2) Who knows anything about Wii Chip Sets?
3) Will the upcoming but delayed WiiKey update have any bearing on my issue?
4) I was thinking of getting a different mod chip, will it make a difference?

Any help would be appreciated,

i legitimately back up all my dvds cause i don't want no scratches on my originals. I'd do it with my wii to if getting a chip wasn't such a hassle.

lol not one of my discs fr anything has never stuffed up. all u have to do is put em back in teh case after u take em out.... and dont drop em

but u are a disgrace to nintendo people who buy chips and buy burnt games piss me off there betraying the company and us!!

Apparently Nintendo releasing 1 game every 3 months is good enough for you guys... have fun with that.

I love Nintendo, I just hate how they make us wait forever to release stuff here. I also hate wasting money on a piece of **** with tacked on Wii controls. If i like the game, I'll buy it.

Ok, so if you don't like the game you won't buy it, yet you "love Nintendo"? Well you musn't care very much because you're effectively losing them revenue as well as pirating games and committing a crime. If you can't be patient to wait for the games, voice your thoughts on it but don't pirate...

A game released on launch in the us, like Trauma center, still isn't here.... I don't mind waiting for Metroid or Galaxy, just not something that has no valid reason not to be here yet. I got bored.

I think Nintendo will be just fine without the $500 I would've spend on games that suck ass. "Voicing thoughts" isn't going to make Nintendo release games. It'll just give forum nerds something to bicker over.

WiiKeys can also be used for legal purposes. They are not illegal in Australia. Is there something wrong with a VCR? Recording from television is illegal, and most people use a VCr for illegal purposes, should they not have a VCR?

I've looked after PC games correctly and had discs destroyed because of faults in the original disc, in this case would it have been wrong for me to make a legal back-up? Under current Australian law no.

Just cut the crap, you all are getting Keys to burn games, it's not half obvious, you're not backing them up, what a load of crap.

No-one in there right mind, would pay 100+ dollars, to get their Wii opened, and their warrenty void, so there VC games and 400+ dollars for a new Wii is at stake, just to BACK up there games...

BULLLLLCRRAAPPP!!!

Just support Nintendo, support consoles, and pay for the games, if everyone burns, everyone loses.

Right on Saul, you guys are tight asses. Pay for the games. Pay for the music instead of downloading it of LimeWire or some other file-sharing site if you do.

Music is totally different, I actually agree with downloading music = P

You see, if bands released music, and noticed that NO ONE is buying their albums, but then realise that over XX million have been downloading their music, then it shows them that they are popular, and if they tour the world, they'll become millionairs from it.

So either way, if Music is downloaded, it doesn't affect the bands in a large sum, they can tour and make all the money back plus double or triple more they spent on the CD distribution.

But in regards to games / consoles, they make them over a long period, and then if everyone burns them, they have no way of actually doing anything to make money back, where bands do.

I'll actually step back, I don't believe it's RIGHT to download music, but it's not as bad as burning games, that's all.

There can be no grey in the issue. Theft is theft.

For the record, there's no practical way for bands to know how often their tracks are being downloaded from a free P2P service. The entire point of free P2P like Limewire is anonymity.

Again, this all goes back to making it worthwhile to purchase a game. What do I get for buying games legitimately? Box art and a short, insultingly written manual. The manual might even be on the CD to save money. I may as well just download the game and save myself $60-100, because there is really no difference between buying the game and downloading it.

Now if every box came with figurines, props from the game world, cloth maps, newspaper clippings and feature articles that were relevant to the game? That's incentive to purchase. And sadly, not even Collectors Edition boxes give you enough of that stuff.

First of all, recording companies will not be able to sign bands if no one paid for the music being produced & then the bands would have no music to be downloaded or they would only have low grade recordings made in some guys garage. Yes bands make alot of money from touring but the record companies dont. Without record companies new bands can't afford to have their music produced to the quality required.
